Hi mate, did you get any photos or good views of this bird? I was able to sound record it flying south over Chalk Bank at 11:08. Some discussion as to whether it’s a Citrine or an Eastern Yellow Wag.

Golden Oriole
Super happy to find a Golden Oriole at the Point today @spurnbirdobs.bsky.social!! Been wanting to find a good bird here all spring and it finally happened 😍😍 It shared a bush with a Fieldfare at one point too 😮 #birds #birding #PWC2025
Purple Sandpiper
Was really happy to find the Purple Sandpiper on the Breach this morning at @spurnbirdobs.bsky.social, you rarely see summer-plumaged birds in the UK and it’s safe to say this one showed quite well 😍😍 #birds #birding #NaturePhotography #birdsphotography #PWC2025
Eurasian Dotterel
Ridiculous views of a Dotterel this morning @spurnbirdobs.bsky.social, I still can’t believe how these guys will just walk up to you as though you aren’t there!! 🤯🤯 #birds #birding #NaturePhotography #PWC2025
Red-backed Shrike
Red-backed Shrike putting on a performance at @spurnbirdobs.bsky.social 😍 Can’t believe these cute little guys impale other birds on thorns and then eat them 😰 #birds #birding #naturephotography #PWC2025
I wasn’t sure about the hyphen so I checked the name beforehand on eBird, rookie error by me 😂😂

Eurasian Nightjar
The radio message of a Nightjar at Chalk Bank at @spurnbirdobs.bsky.social had me racing down the peninsula on my bike to catch a glimpse of this cryptic species during the daytime, the first one l've ever seen in sunlight ☀️👀 #birds #birding #naturephotography #PWC2025 #BirdsSeenIn2025
Melodious Warbler
Woke up this morning to a radio message of @spurnbirdobs.bsky.social’s 5th ever Melodious Warbler singing at Chalk Bank! A nervy 40 minute bike ride was rewarded with some excellent views of this little gem #birds #birding #pwc2025

Male Hawfinch
Photo of the Male Hawfinch at Spurn yesterday 😍 - still cannot believe how confiding he was. I don’t think I’ll get another Hawfinch experience like this in the UK for a long time. @spurnbirdobs.bsky.social #birds #birding #birdphotography #birdsseenin2025 #nature #naturephotography
In case you were wondering how close he got 🤯
Male Hawfinch
I thought Hawfinch views like this were impossible in the UK!! 🤯🤯 Genuinely the most confiding male Hawfinch I’ve ever seen/heard of in the UK at Spurn today. Still feeling giddy with excitement 45 minutes after seeing him! #birds #birding #birdphotography #birdsseenin2025 #nature #naturephotography
Razorbill
Chough
3 Twite
Kumlien’s Gull (centre bird)
After getting the Scoter in the morning we then spent the rest of the day birding North Wales 🏴 With the highlights being 3 Twite, a couple of Choughs, an early Puffin, 6 Black Guillemots and an obliging Kumlien’s Gull
Drake Black Scoter
Sanderling
Really nice day with @bc-s.bsky.social yesterday going to twitch the Black Scoter at Hoylake, I was expecting it to be pretty distant so when it came within ~50 metres of me I was pretty happy 😅 #birds #birding #birdsseenin2025 #birdphotography #nature #naturephotography
Drake Black Scoter
Black Scoter showed amazingly close at Hoylake this morning with @bc-s.bsky.social, at its closest point it was maybe 50-70 metres out, no wind and amazing light too 😍 @birdguides.bsky.social @rarebirder.bsky.social #birds #birding #birdsseenin2025
One week before I was set to start my position as a spring volunteer for Spurn Bird Observatory, my first ever volunteering position in wildlife conservation after finishing college last year. I was so excited, what great fucking luck I have 😭😭😭
Jack Snipe
Flushed this Jack Snipe at Beddington today 😍 Trying to get a photo as it raced away from me was a nightmare, but luckily I managed to get this one in focus 🤞 #birds #birding #birdsseenin2025 #birdphotography #nature #naturephotography #pwc2025
Great Crested Grebe
Got very lucky that this Great Crested Grebe at Beddington Farmlands didn’t seem to mind my presence at all, it was busy calling and dancing for a mate but was left all alone 😅🥲 #birds #birding #birdphotography #birdsseenin2025 #nature #naturephotography
Firecrest
Firecrest at Beddington Farmlands 😍 So hard to photograph as it flitted amongst the Ivy, I think I got 20 decent photos after taking about 1000 images 😭 #birds #birding #birdsseenin2025 #nature #naturephotography
Mind blowing views of this pair of White-tailed Eagles food passing an unfortunate drake Long-tailed Duck. Such a special birding experience!
Eurasian Teal
Can’t believe how well this Teal showed on patch today, and the light was perfect too! Super happy with how this photo turned out 😁🙏 #birds #birdsseenin2025 #birding #birdwatching #birdphotography #nature #naturephotography
Black-throated Thrush
Black-throated Thrush in Hampshire this morning, luckily showing very well as soon as I arrived 👀 Thanks to the homeowners for allowing access to their garden. My first Black-throated Thrush for the UK ✅ #birds #birding #birdsseenin2025 #birdphotography #naturephotography
This caused some confusion, as before any rescue services could arrive it flew south at 9:17am, over the crest of the hill it was on and was never seen again. It possibly landed below the hill but that area was very overgrown and hard to see into. Hopefully it made it back to the sea unharmed 🤷♂️
We were also worried that people might break into the site to see it, as the site is a disused landfill site it can be quite dangerous in areas. So I was instructed to report online that it had already been “taken into care” even though it hadn’t, just to prevent anyone trying to break in.
Originally we called wildlife rescue services because it kept trying to stand up but falling over, however most wildlife rescue places didn’t want to rescue it due to risk of bird flu.
