#PWC2025 was not so good - 114 birds for 137 points,

#PaullHolmeStrays was quiet - American Golden Plover was the best bird (not seen by me). Only ticks for me were Grey Partridge and a surprise Purple Sand.

Easily my best patch bird was an American Wigeon at Newton Garth.

2025 at #localpatch ended with #149 species, Highlights: pygmy cormorant, jack's snipe, little scaup. All three new for the patch. Looking forward what #lowcarbonbirding will bring 2026. #pwc2025

A quiet 2025 for my patch; a low total of 135, & only one new species, a plastic one at that, Egyptian Goose. Bird of the year? Perhaps these two, viewable at close range from a footpath – sorry, when & where withheld!

The year ends with a πŸ’₯in the Lye Valley, Oxford, with a megaflock of 13 Snipe! For context, this is only the 4th occurrence of Snipe here in the city, a cumulative total of only 6 birds in 7 years until today. What else will the cold snap bring? 🀞

I tried hard to pull one more out the bag today but no Black-throated Diver or any scoter which were my best chances. On totting up my year lists against my BirdTrack records I found I'd missed several off my #PWC2025 lists 😬 ending core 3km on 145 (232pts) and 10km on 174 (307pts). #WestrayBirding

Finished on 150! for the 3k #PWC2025 @patchbirding.bsky.social added Goldeneye yesterday
Despite having the driest year at #LadywalkNR it still produced the best find in Golden Oriole in the Spring and YBW in Autumn. Patch ticks inc Goshawk,Glossy Ibis and Curlew Sand on last bit of water!

I finished with 122 species of bird on my patch out of a possible 140 on the reserve sighting list (to be verified). Not a bad effort and enhanced by a first patch Caspian Tern, which I found and a Wryneck. Here's to more relaxed and enjoyable birding in 2026! #PWC2025

Standout record of the year. Confirmation of successful breeding by a pair of Ruff.

One of three Wryneck that I found on 8th Sept. Probably my favourite day of the year

Glossy ibis, Common Buzzard, Tree Pipit and Redstart (single record of a dead bird) only species missed. Mistle Thrush and Curlew Sand probably the most obvious overall omissions. A very poor spring and patchy autumn with late Sept/early Oct being especially quiet #PWC2025 #OrkneyBirding

It was a frosty start to the final dawn #patchbirding walk of #PWC2025. No new additions so 107 species noted this year, easily beating my target of 100. Always nice to end the year seeing Green Sandpiper, Kingfisher, a mixed flock of Siskin & Goldfinch, Coal Tits & Little Egret.

Terrible photo of a Caspian Gull that still shows the key features - bright white head and underparts, grey mantle & shawl, brown coverts and dark tertials and primaries. It is sat on the sea which appear grey because it is overcast

Three additions to the Titchfield Haven patch list this year: Caspian Gull, Mark F's Hudsonian Godwit, and Richard L's Night Heron πŸ™‚ Even better that the 1st Caspian Gull was followed by more! Big flock of White-fronted Geese also lovely to see. #HantsBirds #PWC2025
