@margeaux.bsky.social remember the fun we had fun building all those skills? Blazing the trail?
Not that I own an #Alexa anymore, but throwback to when one of my first #python skills for that ecosystem would answer "Alexa, Is Trump still president?" with sarcastic, humorous, or quite frankly, depressing answers.
Though I didn't open source the full skill, I did so for the answers to pull in.
Curious why you say that. Any examples?
It is supposed to be more web-like yeah?
I need to update to it from react-native-navigation and just happened to see your post.
If you’re in need of an innovation and experimentation leader, maker and breaker, tinkerer and thinker-er, hit me up.
I love #python and #devops and #containers and modernizing whole teams and mentoring software devs and #expo and #reactnative and being a force multiplier.
And so much more.
The #startup world is volatile — I’ve been in and out of it for 20+ years — and it looks to be biting me soon.
By mid-April I’ll be done with my full-time role as Chief Engineer and seeking a full-time role elsewhere.

Oh gosh are there really no drafts or return to finish post features on #bluesky?
Just lost a three post thread cause I looked at a couple other apps and came back to it gone. 😫
I think my next barrier is not knowing Tailwind. I get it, but seems daunting to learn all the magic classes to use.
Def mine by far.
I wanted to try NW and RNR too recently but have read there are noticeable performance hits for pretty much everything outside of vanilla Stylesheets.
Noticed any? Of significance?
I’m in the same boat. Besides some neat little tricks inserting basic algorithms, I don’t quite get why people go nuts over this.

I want it to do grunt shit.
#ai #vscode #githubcopilot
I wouldn't exactly ask for help from a co-worker if they *stopped* learning in 2023.
So ... what ... hmm. I feel dumb asking but what SHOULD it do for me?
Is there something I'm missing to tap into "this awesome new power" everyone raves about? It seems hamstrung.
#github #githubcopilot #aicoding
I'd ask it to help build a social login page, but can't trust it to be best pattern for 2025.
By the time I figure out how to ask it questions it can do from knowledge frozen in 2023, I could do this all myself just searching the web and docs.
It keeps trying to actually downgrade me because it only "knows" things up to Oct 2023. So it wants to downgrade me to Expo 49.
I can't ask it about Expo Router patterns because it doesn't know much about it.
So the more I play with #github #copilot and "ai coding assistants" I realize I'd rather them do mundane things like "upgrade this app to latest Expo SDK". But when I try that is most often when I see it choke.
As Congress is on the cusp of passing a resolution to avoid ruining Christmas for thousands of hard-working Americans, Elon threatens to shut it all down. Welcome to oligarchy. You are now under the rule of Elon Musk and his little errand boy, Donald Trump.
So, isn’t this actually a huge problem? I don’t mean technically. I mean ethically? Legally?
I’m waiting for the Armageddon when the code generated by all these “ai” violate licenses galore by directly copying licensed code with no attribution or adherence to license terms. It’s coming.
That time of year when I wonder about selling my painted #warhammer models.
I always say I regret it.
But they’re not even displayed. Just tucked away.
And I haven’t been able to use them in #warhammerunderworlds in ages. Never got a gaming group back together after pandemic.
Hmm.
Been there! 😖
I want to write some #python and #reactnative code.
But first I gotta write some #python and #reactnative code.
#codeforfun #codeforwork
Time to purge a bunch of #warhammer NIB boxes.
The thought of messing around with eBay to do it sounds terrible.
Going for marketplace and #miniswap on Reddit to see what’s up.
I can’t get into it this year. Just not biting me and pulling me in to do the puzzles.
Probably burnout from job searching and inane interview processes lately lol.
I would definitely choose #python though if I were.
Nice!
I went to go take a look. Seems like you might be down.
Look forward to checking it out.
I wrote about the human side of code reviews. Let me find it — it was internal to a previous role but I always meant to publish it on my site.
I’ll share soon.
Just started full time as Chief Engineer at a startup my data science friend created. #python behind the scenes. #reactnative mobile app(s). And more fun to come.
Always been a light framework guy but giving #Django a go on some nonprofit side work.
Building a #js game with my brother soon.
You?
FREE Course: Applied Machine Learning - Cornell CS 5787 👇
Starting from the basics, it covers key ML algorithms (linear regression, kernel methods, neural networks, etc.), their mathematical foundations, and how to apply them.

#datascience #python #machinelearning
Yo. That’s definitely me. Though I suppose I consume here more than produce.
Happy to #connect though.
I’ve tried #Haskell a couple times. I just can’t get too into it. The line noise is impenetrable to me. Makes #Perl look symbol free haha. I’ll take readability but mad respect to Haskell users.
🤷♂️
That’s … an odd response to a casual, calm discussion.
Also, where even is the hypocrisy in what I wrote?
Bizarre take. Truly weird.
