Got a sketchpage done during my dayjob breaks of Tomb for a Curse of Strahd campaign I've been playing in lately.

Currently, Tomb is dead in the campaign after saving one of the druids from a wraith. It's fine, don't worry about it :)

August 9, 2025. Rook, a humanoid psychic with slightly imbalanced proportions. They have a circuitry pattern through the joints of their body and needles that protrude from the fingers on one hand.

August 30, 2025. A member of the Karajj / Rook's hidden form. Some sort of brain monster similar in appearance to a human nervous system. They are made up of sharp, carapace-like blades connected by dark tendrils that lead to an oversized human-like brain.

Got some designs sketched out for my friend Bee, say hi to Rook :D
They are a PC in a psychic campaign I run in M&M and also is being played in a Masks campaign with a different table.

the biggest thing is just studying animal features and figuring out how to enhance a design with them.

the snout and ears are usually the biggest signs for a difference between species. (foxes have slimmer snouts than wolves, for example)

you already got it, basically animal head on human body is a common way to do it (beastars is an extremely successful example of that kind of design).

sometimes adding little tufts of fur in the lineart around the body can five the effect of fur all over, especially around joints/framing the jaw
