A whiteboard leaned against a shelf with many trinkets. On the whiteboard, it says “When you look at a blank page, think of who you love”
In his acceptance speech for award for best screenplay, Ryan Coogler said “when you look at a blank page, think of who you love” and I dunno, that really moved me so I wrote it down and sat it on my desk to look at while I work

Not that I expected any differently on this app but just perused your page and no mention of what Michael and Mr. Lindo experienced last night, not to mention Hannah Bleacher, who's incident wasn't captured on film, or the 3rd unnamed Black woman she told us about
Empathy for me, not for thee 🙂

After considerable soul-searching, I feel compelled to withdraw from the BAFTA emerging talent judging panel. The organisation's handling of the unfortunate Tourette's N-Word incident last night at the awards was utterly unforgivable. I cannot and will not contribute my time energy and expertise to an organisation that has repeatedly failed to safeguard the dignity of its Black guests, members and the Black creative community. This is particularly unfortunate given that this year's cohort boasts some incredible Black talent, especially one of my favourite shows of 2025 "Just Act Normal". However, when an organisation like BAFTA, with its own long history of systemic racism, refuses to acknowledge the harm inflicted on both the Black and disabled communities and offer an appropriate apology, remaining involved would be tantamount to condoning its behaviour. I hope BAFTA leadership comprehend the damage they and the BBC have caused and take the necessary steps to ensure their production staff are inclusive enough to prevent such an issue in the future.
Yours sincerely, Jonte Richardson

You Can’t Fight Fascism While Defunding Libraries
“Libraries embody everything that we need right now to fight back against fascism," says Sara Heymann.
I received a thank you from some library workers for this piece after a Chicago city budget was passed this week without the previously proposed library cuts I described here. Many thanks to everyone who made noise about this issue. There were wins and losses in this budget, but this win matters.

I only came back to say/ do this: Ra'il has continuously been erased from #YourSlipIsShowing, both by intentional misgendering AND by people pretending he never had anything to do with it.

Years Ago, Black Feminists Worked Together to Unmask Twitter Trolls Posing as Women of Color. If Only More People Paid Attention.
The fake accounts had handles like @NayNayCantStop, @LatrineWatts, and @CisHate, and bios like “Queer + black + angry.”
Hi. Pardon me Dr. Thaler. Maybe you can tell your co-fellow to address the fact that Ra'il I'Nasah Kiam was erased from her article. It doesn't make sense, as she follows Ra'il on twitter *and* Ra'il is in the most widely referenced article about #YourSlipIsShowing. slate.com/technology/2...

Today's #writingtip comes from that-disabled-girl on Tumblr!
“Writing life hack: Make a separate document to store all the loose scenes you want to include in your story, but you aren't sure quite where to put them. It's a lot easier than the footnote pile of doom.”

Never mind all the charm and talent. That much of Isiah is always onscreen and utterly obvious.
Instead, a last word to let everyone know what isn't evidenced on film: He was an even better person than he was an actor; a warm and gracious delight of a man. Goodbye, friend.

'The View' Stays Silent After ABC Shelves Jimmy Kimmel's Show
The biggest story of the hour got zero mention during the chat show.
During today's episode of ABC's "The View," there was *zero* mention of the network's controversial decision to pull the plug on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”

Let’s be clear about what happened to Jimmy Kimmel
Trump’s most brazen attack on free speech yet.
After years of complaining about cancel culture, the current administration has taken it to a new and dangerous level by routinely threatening regulatory action against media companies unless they muzzle or fire reporters and commentators it doesn’t like.

Wildfire climate connection
Climate change, including increased heat, extended drought, and a thirsty atmosphere, has been a key driver in increasing the risk and extent of wildfires in the western United States during the last ...
ABC, NBC & CBS dedicated about 16 minutes of airtime last night to the California wildfires without once mentioning climate change.
Since the news failed do it's job, here's a short summary of the role of climate change and wildfire risk:

Remember when publicly doing the right thing was called "setting a good example"?
Now it's called "virtue signaling" and, apparently, a bad thing.

When we see narratives that blame the most vulnerable people for problems caused by the most powerful, I think it’s important to remember that this viral spread of misinfo is a more pervasive version of what the powerful have always done to defend themselves, with tech they steered in this direction
