The clock tower in Riverfront Park in Spokane. Originally the clock tower was attached to the train station. When the landscape was transformed to become Expo '74 the train station came down but the clock tower remained. More than 50 years later, it remains a beloved part of Spokane's landscape.

Today's beauty inspired haiku...
Today's haiku. I caught my first glimpse of a bunch of arrowleaf balsamroot. It always feels a bit more like spring when these beauties light up a hillside.
Just because you can do something doesn't mean that you should do it.
Sharing beauty as I find it, because we can all use a dose of beauty from time to time (and hopefully more often than that)...
My latest reflection - on noticing beauty in these challenging days in which we find ourselves living...

In that liminal space between sleeping and waking, I slowing became aware that my soul was singing a song to my heart. The song contained a lesson that I've been growing into for some time now, but having it put to music was new. Apparently my soul is discovering new ways to get my attention. ❤️
In the Sufi tradition the day a person dies is remembered as their Urs - their marriage to the Beloved. This understanding has always been comforting to me. Today is my late wife’s Urs. This is what I wrote this year on the occasion of Veronica’s Urs.

Today's haiku - inspired by a visit to the Gaiser Conservatory in Manito Park located in Spokane, Washington. Manito is such a treasure.

I never grow tired of this view - the Clock Tower in Riverfront Park in downtown Spokane Washington. The site of the 1974 World Expo has been well maintained and provides a lovely urban space in which to spend some time.

"You don't want to hear the story
of my life, and anyway
I don't want to tell it, I want to listen
to the enormous waterfalls of the sun.
And anyway it's the same old story
a few people just trying
one way or another,
to survive
Mostly, I want to be kind"

with a nod to Albert Einstein:
“There are two ways to live:
as if nothing is a miracle,
or as if everything is a miracle”.
