They don't consider the economic impact of not following through with protecting the natural world- insurance companies are feeling it. America can't compete if we are the polluters and destroy our environment while the rest of the world is raising the bar on tech and protecting space.

H.R. 1897 is moving fast in the House and could hit the floor for a full vote as soon as tomorrow. This bill would gut the Endangered Species Act forcing economic impact considerations into listing decisions, limiting your ability to challenge bad science in court,

Nice looking loaf- I used to love baking bread (especially a round Swedish rye), but now I am lazy. All the people baking and sharing your pics is making me want to bake again.

This black-and-white close-up portrait photograph captures Jannetje Johanna “Hannie” Schaft (16 September 1920 – 17 April 1945), the legendary Dutch resistance fighter known to the Nazis as “the girl with the red hair.” Shown from the shoulders up against a plain, dark studio background, she gazes slightly upward and to the right of the frame with quiet intensity. Her expression is calm yet resolute—lips gently closed, eyes clear and steady—conveying youthful determination and inner strength. She wears a dark, textured knitted sweater with a round neckline, her thick, wavy hair framing her face in soft curls. The tight composition centers entirely on her face and upper torso, creating an intimate, almost contemplative mood that belies the extraordinary courage of the young law student who abandoned her studies to join the Raad van Verzet. She forged identity cards for Jewish families, smuggled weapons and illegal newspapers, and carried out daring assassinations of Nazi officers and Dutch collaborators. Arrested just weeks before liberation, she was executed by firing squad on 17 April 1945 in the dunes near Haarlem. This powerful image stands as an enduring historical symbol of ordinary heroism and defiance against fascism, immortalizing a woman whose short life became a beacon of Dutch resistance.

#OTD in 1945, Dutch resistance fighter Hannie Schaft--𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘨𝘪𝘳𝘭 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘩𝘢𝘪𝘳--was executed by the Nazis at age 24.

Law student turned saboteur, she smuggled weapons & assassinated collaborators. Captured weeks before liberation, she faced the firing squad with defiance. #courage #WWII #HistSky

There is no amount of money, oil, or gold that is worth more than having bees, trees, and clean water.

And if anyone deserves a performance bonus it should be people who do actual work. I'd rather see those be given to a plumber that does a perfect install, the auto worker with an exemplary build record, the social worker who has helped many clients, etc.

Minnesota should be able to refuse this- anything that happens in our state.

THE SENATE IS VOTING ON THE BOUNDARY WATERS RIGHT NOW!

Tonight, while most people are watching TV or putting their kids to bed, the U.S. Senate is taking a vote that could permanently end protections for one of the most beloved wilderness areas in America.

Investigators have identified ten named co-conspirators from the files and not one has faced any consequences, yet in the first two years since Roe v Wade was overturned at least 412 people were arrested in 'pregnancy related crimes' across 16 states.

We elected you to Congress to be a check on executive power, not a spectator.

You swore an oath to defend the Constitution, not to protect a man who threatens democracy, threatens war, and threatens the future.

Stop hiding behind voters.

Stop punting responsibility.

DO YOUR JOBS.👇

I think mandatory voting would force the system to change - voting would have to be easier, not harder, and there would be a push for voters to be more informed, especially if the first suggestion of taking money out of the process were implemented. I might be too hopeful about human nature though.

The oligarchs, the fascists, they will do anything they can in order to stop a Free Press and factual information from spreading; killing journalists worldwide or buying them off as they do in the US. A Free Press is necessary for freedom to exist.

I would love that, and for voting to become mandatory. If roadblocks are put up preventing people from voting it could be a criminal matter, everything should be designed to make voting for every citizen easier, not harder.

Effective 2025 federal tax rates paid by these corporations:

Alphabet: 8.01%
AT&T: 4.6%
Meta: 3.57%
General Motors: 3.09%
Amazon: 1.37%
Exxon Mobil: 1.31%
Disney: -1.57%
CVS Health: -3.88%

Income tax rate paid by the typical American: 14.5%

This is what a rigged system looks like.

15 people have died in ICE custody JUST THIS YEAR.

That is 1 death a week.

Under this regime, 2026 is set to be the deadliest year for ICE detention EVER.

The need for guardrails and meaningful oversight could not be more urgent.
