My new blog is live. Titled 'When Painting Outshines Photography' I talk about a photo of the sun versus Monet's painted sun in 'Impression, Sunrise'. Then you have the result of my attempt to blend painting with camera reality. Read it here - www.lorenbrand.com/blog
This is the 3rd in my City of London series, titled City of London - Wave. Hot off the press! I woke at 5am today and managed to capture the city buildings with the dawn light bouncing off them from the east, before the actual sunrise which was an amazing deep red as it crept over the horizon.
This is the second in my City of London digital art set. Titled City of London - Bubble. This is based on my shot of the full moon setting during a fiery dawn, casting beautiful sunrise colours onto the windows of the Walkie Talkie and the Minster buildings.

The City of London. New digital art technique on this rainy day. Still working through my book chapter on surrealism in the 1920s. I think a little of that is seeping through! To see my current available set of art www.lorenbrand.com/my-art

The beautiful towers of Charrington Tower (previously Providence Tower) and Ontario Tower sit in the area of New Providence Wharf, bordering the Thames. The blue lights on the top of each tower shine bright in the dark blue sky and below you can just see the tops of the houseboats in Poplar Dock.

This green roofed building is Canary Riverside Plaza Hotel. Designed in an ancient Egyptian style by Renton, Howard, Wood & Levin. Taken at night, the building is framed by the bright lights of adjacent towers and by the light trails of the Thames Clipper boats whizzing by to Canary Wharf Pier.
One Canada Square at twilight. Designed by César Pelli, still the tallest building on the Canary Wharf Estate. Currently only beaten in height in London by 22 Bishopsgate (2nd tallest) and The Shard (tallest).
I've applied my own sky treatment. All else is as shot.

Today I made up a reel for Instagram of my top 12 most viewed pictures of 2025. This was number one. Not sure why it outstripped most of the others.
The wonderfully crumpled façade of Prospect Place housing development at Battersea Power Station, designed by architect Frank Gehry.

My latest blog is published today. Click here to read it www.lorenbrand.com/blog I take a look back at the Christmas lights in the Mayfair area of London.
Happy New Year! Wishing you everything you wish for yourself in 2026!
To embody our hopes for 2026, I've used the guiding symbol of the star (from my photo of London decorations), a blue sky, and added the positivity of YES (inspired by Yoko Ono's Ceiling Painting/Yes Painting).
Merry Christmas!
Thank you to everyone who has supported me, liked my posts, collaborated and just generally been in my online life over the past year. I wish you a very happy holiday!
A beautiful light sculpture titled Riva by artist Arthur Mamou-Mani. It illuminates the entrance to Two Pancras Square, designed by architects Allies and Morrison. Lovely to capture its reflection on a very rainy night.

My colour selection technique applied to One Canada Square, designed by César Pelli. This building has featured a lot in my art recently, both digitally and in collage/paint. The building was half built when we moved to London in 1990 and it's been a key feature of my urban landscape ever since.
A peaceful scene to balance out the hustle of December. If you feel the same, take a breath and enjoy this coolness and solitude. Light benches by artists LBO Lichtbank in Canary Wharf.

100 Liverpool Street with Yayoi Kusama's artwork Infinite Accumulation. This was taken on a grey day so I added a gradient sky with digital stripes and movement features to add a touch of energy. The architects are Hopkins Architects. The polished spheres on the artwork reflect the surroundings.
Latest blog titled "Illuminated Colours" out today, with a few images using this technique. I talk about this technique and the feelings and inspiration behind it. The tall building on the left is the Halo Building, Stratford. To read the blog click here www.lorenbrand.com/blog

The reflective stainless steel facade of One Canada Square shimmers silver and gold in the twilight. The branding lights of the other buildings were removed to eliminate any distraction from the star of the show - the metallic glow against the deep blue sky and dark river.
#canarywharf
Number 3 in my art series based on Isle of Dogs/ Canary Wharf buildings. Feelings and inspirations include tall buildings cut across by fog, layers and disconnection. I'll release the title in my next monthly newsletter. To subscribe www.lorenbrand.com/newsletter-s...

The beautiful Piccadilly Arcade which runs between Jermyn Street and Piccadilly, decorated with stars.
What a great choice! I've read Ikigai. I would add the Geographical Puzzles and How AI can Change your Life to my wish list.
Canary Wharf in the snow? Well, no snow for London yet but since it's been snowing in Scotland, it's on my mind. I'm also thinking about my Christmas cards, so this morning I've made some fake snow.
