The photo shows a group of seagulls perched on weathered dock pilings beside a calm canal or waterway, captured in bright sunlight with reflections on the water. Several white birds with grayish wings and red bills and legs stand prominently on a green-and-white piling, while others float nearby or rest on adjacent blue and gray structures.

Scene Details

A metal railing and wooden platform border the water’s edge, with more seagulls scattered on posts and in the shallow water. The setting appears urban or harbor-like, typical for seagull gatherings on docks. Sunlight creates golden highlights and strong shadows, emphasizing the birds’ poses.

Bird Identification

These are likely herring gulls (Larus argentatus), common in coastal or inland waterways, identified by their white heads, gray backs, red-orange legs, and bills with red spots. The red bills and legs match adult winter plumage. They often perch on pilings for resting or foraging.

Some gulls forming a line although these are not being particularly tidy. At least one didn’t get the seasonal plumage memo. #BirdsUK #MillwallDock 🪶

A small group of waterbirds is resting on the edge of a wooden dock beside rippled grey water.
Birds
•	On the left are two Canada geese, standing on the dock and bending their necks down to preen their feathers.
•	Just behind them stands a pale grey-and-white gull, facing slightly toward the water.
•	At the far right is a darker bird, likely a cormorant, hunched and perched on a bollard at the dock corner, also with its head tucked down.
Setting
•	The dock surface is weathered wood with scattered debris and patches of green moss along the side.
•	A bright red buoy hangs in the water at the dock’s corner, adding a strong splash of colour against the otherwise muted tones of the scene.

Two Canada 🇨🇦 Geese, a cormorant and a gull are playing “hide and seek” but I don’t think the gull knows the rules.

This image shows a single swan standing on a paved walkway beside a body of water, likely part of a canal or dock. The swan is facing left, with its neck curved downward. The walkway is lined with black metal railings and tall, modern-style lamp posts, creating a rhythmic perspective that draws the eye into the distance. In the background, there are some trees and residential buildings, giving the scene an urban waterside atmosphere.

This poor #swan landed on the walkway next to the #MillwallDock and of course cannot take off or hop over the fence to get back in the water. The railings go as far in the other direction so it’s quite confused. At least me and other walkers gave it some room.
Hope it finds its way out. 🪶 #UkBirds
