it's the greatest troll job ever created- months of marketing about NASA scientist doing the physics and this black hole type and that science perfection and going planet to planet like space hobos only for the ending to be all you need is love, whole 3 hr ass film that shoulda been a Beatles song
Ham and Enos would like it noted that they’re available for Artemis III.

Trump celebrates Artemis mission by gutting NASA budget to pay for The War That Isn't A War
Not to denigrate the important work of FEMA, but it seems like the ability to teleport could be better utilized at NASA.

Initial set of charts tracking some of the massive cuts from NASA's FY 2027 budget proposal are now posted at www.planetary.org/charts?imgke...

The Trump regime seeks $5.6 billion cut to NASA budget in 2027. The most severe cuts are aimed at NASA’s science programs.
The proposal budget reduces science funding by nearly half, a $3.4 billion reduction compared to fiscal year 2026.
One of my favorite things about when NASA folks make the news is everyone else learning what gigantic nerds they all are (complimentary).
You can track Artemis II via this link at NASA.
Earlier today, humans left Earth's orbit for the first time in over 50 years.
We are going to see things that haven't been viewed in half a century with a clarity that was unthinkable before.
NASA has just shared the first high-resolution images of the Earth taken by the Artemis II crew, meanwhile, massive budget cuts are once again proposed for US science, including for NASA

The political calculations that result in cutting NASA funding the day after the Artemis II launch must be fascinating
Nixon didn’t like NASA much either
The "calculation" is very simple: They want total privatisation of space and space science.
The timing is very intentional; everyone's on a "wow NASA" high and are in no mental condition to accept the real agenda.
The privatisation push has been quiet and inexorable and started years ago.
Fingernail crescent Earth suspended in space, continents and clouds clearly visible, with a Venus dot far in the background, and moonshine illuminating the night
Crystal clear view of Earth's terminator, showing half the globe in daylight that fades into the night half. The daylight side really embodies the blue marble nickname, with captivating cloud patterns and gorgeous oceans. What a nifty planet.
Since NASA apparently isn't on bsky I wholeheartedly suggest you keep an eye on images.nasa.gov ... two new beautiful blue marble images dropped

The FY 2027 budget request for NASA is an insult to the four astronauts currently risking their lives to explore the Moon. The world should be celebrating humanity's return to deep space, as well as the space agency and partners that put them there. [1/2]
From Director of Science Communication at Columbia U:
Trump's 2027 budget proposes cuts of:
🔻 $5.8 billion to NIH
🔻 $5.6 billion to NASA
🔻 $4.8 billion to NSF
🔻 $4.6 billion to EPA
🔻 $2.9 billion to CDC
🔻 $1.6 billion to NOAA
…the US will be a less healthy and less safe place to live.
Trump’s $1.5 trillion military budget will destroy what little is left of US science, environment, & health:
Cuts:
NIH -$5.8 billion
NASA -$5.6 billion
NSF -$4.8 billion
EPA -$4.6 billion
CDC -$2.9 billion
NOAA -$1.6 billion
It also includes $$ for 130,000 beds at ICE concentration camps.
The White House wants to slash NASA's Science Mission Directorate by 47%...again. So here's my op-ed in @sciam.bsky.social from last year, because déjà vu is real 🙃
If anyone wants to track Artemis II in real time, there's a wonderful online tool put out by NASA: www.nasa.gov/missions/art...
NASA has some explaining to do
