View of the undersides of two inkcap mushrooms. They look like tall umbrellas, perfect for a shaded repose. Green trees and blue sky are visible in the background
I would have liked to be a tiny creature lounging under these pretty inkcaps today 🍄

Sending warm thoughts to Arya and you all, and hoping for the best
A crescent moon viewed through a gap in the trees.
Hello Luna! 🌒 🔭
If you see this, post something orange from your gallery
Early twilight sky with a very thin crescent moon above some tree tops and the planet Venus on the left edge of the picture
A telescope dome that is partially open and has a light on inside. Above the dome is a partly cloudy sky with a handful of bright stars
We held a star party last night and while the skies weren’t as clear as they could have been, we still had a nice time 🔭
Why not both?
Opposition of data centers can serve as a gateway, especially if people can see that organizing and pushing back accomplishes something
This was me today too…
A blue jay is perched on our bird feeder. He is seen in profile and has a seed in his beak. Green trees are in the background
Hello Mr. Jay! 🪶
It’s been several months since I’ve seen a blue jay at our feeder
My ex-vangelical self was having a very hard time today, what with all the blatant blasphemy and the knowledge that it probably doesn’t matter…

Becky Jones and Wallace Eckert at the Star Measuring Machine at the Watson Lab at Columbia University (from https://columbia.edu/cu/computinghistory/jones.html)
The nebula is named for co-discoverers Rebecca Jones and Richard M. Emberson.
Jones (below) spent her career as an assistant to astronomers such as Harlow Shapley and Wallace Eckert.
Emberson was the project manager for the development of Green Bank before becoming Executive Director of IEEE.
A round planetary nebula that is reddish around the edges and bluer in the faint, transparent center. Two lobes, one on either side, give the nebula its "headphone" appearance
Jones-Emberson 1 (PGC 139044), the Headphone Nebula, is a planetary nebula ~1600 light years away in the direction of the constellation Lynx. The faint (16.8 mag) central white dwarf is just visible!

That’s so cool! Thank you for doing this
If you’ve been moved & inspired by Artemis, NASA needs your help. Literally during A2, the president proposed cutting NASA science 47%, canceling 54 missions, including many already in-flight. To help stop these cuts, check out @planetarysociety.bsky.social www.planetary.org/save-nasa-sc...
This is looking incredibly inviting right about now…

This week has been a decade. These fuzzy friends have helped make it bearable. I’m so glad they’re settling in.

Honestly, the worst part of the colonoscopy is the drive to the colonoscopy (do I need to stop at this place with a restroom? or can I make it?)
all these universities kept axing medieval history departments as if they thought tyrants beefing with the Pope was going to stop being relevant
Several blueish purple five-petaled blossoms standing upright, a few inches taller than their green foliage
Stalks lined with clouds of tiny white blossoms stand upright upright from heart-shaped leaves with ruffled edges
Orangey yellow blossoms are nestled among green leaves
Blooming now in my front yard:
Woodland phlox, phlox divaricata ‘Blue Moon’
Heartleaf foamflower, tiarella cordifolia
Mouse-eared coreopsis, coreopsis auriculata

A large black and white cat is standing with his front paws on a shelf of plants, looking out the window. More indoor plants are above him on the top of the plant stand, and outside the windows lots of green is visible
Silas is such a sweet giant!
We have barred owls in our neighborhood and sometimes they sound like a bunch of monkeys having a party on the trees. It’s really odd!
“Love your neighbor as yourself”
”To all of you down there, we love you”😭
We love you too, Artemis II crew! Safe travels, we’ll see you on the other side

Just imagine, we could be doing more Cool Science Shit every day instead of <gestures vaguely at the rest of the news> whatever the fuck all this is.
I’m not entirely sure. Both families moved from Germany to Russia and Ukraine before then coming to the US in the late 1800s or early 1900s.
I have possibly found one ancestor; he was born in Baden-Wurttemberg in 1811 and then moved to Russia sometime before 1832.
Sephora, a calico cat with large splotches of orange, brown striped, and white fur, is facing away from the camera. She is lounging on a blue blanket with a laptop screen in front of her
It’s been almost a decade since I last spent an afternoon with a calico kitty in my lap 🥹
Both of my grandfathers were German
Sadly, I don’t speak German
a screenshot that says: Your Result German Probably not autistic. Probably. German 60% Autistic 38%
My last name gives away the first part. That last “probably” is a nice touch (and agrees with what I thought before taking this quiz!)
