Ah, funny.
I hope you also enjoyed learning more about Irish language rights in Northern Ireland.
Adiaŭ
I highly highly recommend reading this brilliant piece!!
I sense that you're being polemical about something but you need to help me here, I'm really not getting it XD This piece of research was funded by ESF so we have the article in English and Esperanto, as it is their normal practice - what seems to be the issue?
Well, whoever comes across this post and can read Esperanto? That's usually what is meant by "you" used on social media (I'm not talking to anyone specific) :)
I feel like that goes without saying? XD
Join me and Michele Gazzola tomorrow at 11am EST | 4pm UK for the ESF Connect Live organised by the Esperantic Studies Foundation where we are going to discuss the importance of language policy and its evaluation in conflict prevention.

Micheál Hearty and I wrote a blog piece on Irish language rights in Northern Ireland and their position within the broader transitional justice process in the region.
Have a read and let us hear your thoughts!

I started working on this during COVID-19, when language barriers made crisis communication a matter of life and death. Since then, this idea has grown into a wider reflection on how DRR frameworks overlook linguistic justice - and why quick fixes won’t cut it in emergencies.
📣Publication alert!!
My paper “Talking over the catastrophe: Linguistic justice in disaster risk reduction” has been published in Language Problems and Language Planning

If you work on #education and #integration, you might like this article! Within the TEAMS (Teaching that Matters for Migrant Students) project, we compiled a taxonomy of European educational practices that aim at supporting migrant students!
It's open access! ;)

One of the interesting things about being autistic is that when you describe something honestly and accurately, people will reply by saying "thank you for your critical perspective."
Deadline approaching!!
Micheál Hearty and I presented the preliminary findings of the ESF-funded project "Piecemeal Peacebuilding and The Trajectory of Discourse: Linguistic Rights in Post-Conflict North of Ireland/Northern Ireland" at the #SLSA2025, looking at how peace agreements in NI have shaped linguistic justice.
Delighted to have presented my and Mattia Zeba's paper on new inclusive approaches to linguistic justice in the @polstudiesassoc.bsky.social 2025 conference! So nice to connect with a rich community of amazing scholars!
I found this video so deeply moving - it is about the Minyak language in eastern Tibet, and one speaker's journey to losing hope that there is any chance for the language to survive.

Boosting the signal on this fantastic event taking place next week in Stockholm, organised by @jsolerc.bsky.social and Nina Carlsson. Very much looking forward to it - the presentations, the discussions, to meeting many good friends, and hopefully making new ones, too.

The Indigenous People of North America have decided to go back to calling the Gulf of Mexico, “Chalchiuhtlicueyecatl”. It is what the Nahuatl People originally called it as it is the domain of the goddess Chalchiuhtlicue, who is assoc w/water bodies, including the Gulf of Mexico.
Can't wait to read it! Looks super interesting
