garmin thinks I have really high sleep hrv and comparatively really low waking hrv, so it shows my default awake stress level as like 95.

literally a straight wall of orange the moment I wake up even if I anecdotally don't feel particularly stressed out more or less than usual

FTN is partnering with the Carnegie Mellon Sports Analytics Center to provide advanced charted data to students to help prepare them for a career in sports data and analysis.

Special thanks to @stat-ron.bsky.social for being a leader in this partnership.

Me googling “arrow schema R” and then clicking on the first result

I would have preferred to have the "draw the rest of the owl" meme on the cover, but this will do. Seems like it is on schedule, and we'll leave some typos so you know we didn't write it with AI.

Ottawa deploying two ‘Python’ machines to tackle thousands of spring potholes As spring arrives, after a snowy winter marked by dozens of freeze-thaw cycles, potholes are once again popping-up, by the thousands, across Ottawa roads.

wow when they said python was the second best language at everything they weren’t kidding eh?

So, I need you to watch Oakland Roots goalkeeper Raphael Spiegel (blue) here.

He's up for a late free kick, but when it goes awry he heads behind the goal and get a second ball to punt onto the field.

Eventually, after Tommy McCabe's goal line clearance, he gets sent off. #USL-C

(Yes, I’m procrastinating other things as hard as possible)

2 weeks ago 2 0 1 0

so far:
- watered all houseplants
- done week’s worth of dishes
- washed, dried, folded laundry
- called my sister for weekly catch up
- meal prepped some roasted veg for the week
- called to arrange a car repair appt
- cooked/eaten breakfast
- taken out trash and recycling
all before noon.

three stupid ways I convince myself to do basic adulting:
1. Shove something to cook in the oven for ~30 minutes as a timed challenge
2. Call someone (my sister or mom usually help) and do stuff while catching up
3. procrastinating something daunting

all three: I’ve been on a bender this morning 😅

it’s so so so background dependent tbh, reading replies you can tell who came from a place where the limitation was big data / slow pipelines (caching intermediate steps good) vs those who came from places where the research/thinking/analysis was the main challenge

I think you're thinking of @nickwan.bsky.social's Sliced contest where @drob.bsky.social won! It was a heck of a lot of work to put on, which is the main reason why it didn't happen again.

Ugh yeah I can’t even imagine how that would go for an airport that I already thought was genuinely so slow, thanks for the context (that I’ve been lucky enough to ignore lately)

worst airport I’ve ever been to. deliberately booked a 6am departure out of there at last posit conf because of trauma from past trips and I’m so glad I did
