Having finished my mending, it was time to decide on my next sewing project. Partner and I had the idea for a burrito purse with an inner taco wallet to go with their GIR cosplay. So begins the paper prototyping and patterning. Next step is dyeing that perfect corn yellow canvas tortilla #sewsky

Pinterest keeps showing me pics of beautiful Japanese ring thimble (yubinuki), and I decided to give it a try myself. I didn't get the weave quite right, but at least it's functional and quick to make. So I can always remake it or make a second if I want.
Dood, I loved Ribbit King, it was so whacky and unhinged.
I'm smiling, holding my Grey cat, Scamp, on my chest
Tajin, my brown and black tabby is loaded on a half-wall next to the handlebars and display of a stationary bike.
Holding Scamp with one hand as he's curled up on my chest. In the background is Tajin and the handlebars of the stationary bike.
A tale of two kitties, both alike in coloration... keeping me company as I try to exercise first the evening. It's unsurprisingly hard to bike and hold a cat at the same time. Fortunately, Scamp got tired of the bouncing and hopped down so I could workout in peace. #catsky #catsofbluesky
I have a favor, and itβs to share this fundraiser (or donate, if you feel inclined. That would rock.) I am really involved in the ceramics community and I think art is so beneficial to kids; I think it can change lives. Link here: www.gofundme.com/f/help-reviv...
Over the weekend, Partner's and I fixed up the catio so that little Emmet Otter can enjoy some fresh air now that it's spring. I need to build a planter box for grass and nip, but we added a few more sitting shelves higher up for the jumpier kits. #catsky #catsofbluesky
A red fabric with white polka dots. The fabric is torn, partially covering a small black button. To the left is a small patch of darning in a slightly brighter red.
The same fabric, now darned with a red thread that matches the fabric better. The button is now sewn back on top of the darning.
Catching up on my mending this weekend. I recently reattached the buttons onto these pants and used achor buttons on the inside, but the lining was slightly misaligned and tore along a spot I'd previously darned. So I needed to take off the button, darn the new tear and reattach the button. #sewsky
Opal, who's 15, joins in on evening playtime occasionally. She's been with me so many rough times, I'm grateful for every day with her. #catsky #catsofbluesky
A workout summary: 70kcals, 21mins, .62miles, average speed 1.8mph, highest slope 4.0. Then a graph of the speed, going up and down at regular intervals, each step up higher than the one before
2 months of exercise! My new walking pad came with an app for tracking my walks. I've also started doing intervals of fast and slow, progressively faster: .4 up, .2 down. Last month I thought 1.8mph was too fast, now it's my average. Kits still coming to hang out.
I adore that Little Emmet Otter has a bright white undercoat and skin under all that dark fur. Really makes his shaved patch stand out all the more. #catsky #catsofbluesky
Two cats: on the left is a dark colored cat sitting on a black footstool, blending in except for his yellow eyes. On the right is a piebald cat sitting in an office chair, nearly three times as big as the other cat.
Emmett Otter is blending in (literally) with the household pretty well, but I'm glad this is the last night with his trouble nuggets. Waking up early to drop him off with the vet, then scouring my home with a black light and Nature's Miracle. My boys were 6mo when snipped so never sprayed. #catsky
Week 8 of exercise already! Got my new walking pad on Tues and Tajin showed me i needed to make a dust cover for it. So today I cut the bottom off my first home sewn and tie-dyed kimono (that the fabric was too rough) and used that for my cover. I'm much more likely to wear it as a haori anyway
My favorite sign of the day: A sign with a yellow bird sitting on a toilet that reads "I could shit a better president " with a caricature of Trump the the lower corner
White letters spell out "No Kings!" On the passenger side windows of a teal car.
I didn't have stamina to do much for #nokings today, but I remembered I had some windows cling material to turn my car into a sign while driving past my local protest. I also parked and passed out snacks along one corner before my back started to complain. Glad for PT getting me to this point.
A darkly colored scottish-fold tabby with bright yellow eyes
The vet confirmed no microchip. Also, tested negative for anything bad (FeLV, FIV, Heartworm, etc). About 1.5 yo old, 3kg/6.6lbs. Have already posted on Nextdoor & Pawboost, and checked through several sites. Posters tomorrow. #catsky #catsofbluesky #foundcat
A green satin bra, in progress of being sewn
Today's progress on Partner's bra: I finished the cups and sewed them to the center piece. The sides are basted in place so that I can machine sew them without pins causing distortion. Then it'll be sewing on the bottom band and back closures! #sewsky
He's come out to complain about the situation. He's obviously stressed out, so we're giving him plenty of space, while periodically checking in on him to help him get used to us. Since he's in the craft room, I spent some time quietly sewing in there with him. #catsky
Day two with this little man. Trying so hard to balance being unseen with being comfortable. He's not hissing or aggressive, he'd just rather be left alone. We've decided to call him Emmet because of how much he looks like an otter. #catsky
In other news, I've been working on the cups for Partner's bra today. I used some basting spray to make sure the satin laid smoothly on the foam cups while I top-stitched them together. The trim I'm sewing on by hand. #sewsky
A small dark Scottish fold cat with yellow eyes hiding in the cubby of a shelf
Happy #caturday We were able to catch this little guy. My chip reader didn't find anything, but we have a vet appt on Monday. He has a bald spot on his rump, my guess from chewing at fleas, so he clearly needs some help. Keeping him in his own room until we can find his home or a new one.
I did finally get that cotton yarn to take dye by soaking it in a dye bath. Noted for next time, wash my yarn before attempting to ice dye it. Looking forward to making this into a pair of summer socks. #knitsky
Week 7 of exercise: I've added a bit of bike into my morning routine. Evenings are currently: bike, play/dance with kits, then yoga if I'm feeling up for the full routine. I definitely sleep better on nights when I can do all 3. New walking pad should arrive Tues. #catsky
A truly bizarre thing today: knock on my door (shave and a haircut), I answer.
Solicitor: Can you go grab your mom or dad for me real quick?
Me: Um, no.
Solicitor: ???
Me: I'm 45 years old, I don't live with my parents.
Like, whut? I've had people think I was young before, but wow.
A set of 4 embroidery pieces. Clockwise from top left: drawn-thread over a blue backing. A patchwork of a woman in an embroidered dress. A ornate paisley that has been dyed with a mottled purple dye. And a white flower motif on orange ombre fabric
Ive been dying to share these on here, but I wanted to wait until I knew Charlie from The Stitchery on YouTube saw these since I made them for her community collab. I had so much fun sewing them, and the bite size was perfect. #sewsky
I've begun sewing Partner's bra today. Watched "The Importance of Being Earnest" with Ncuti Gatwa while I was cutting out all the pattern pieces. Very fun, adore the costumes. #sewsku
We've also been attempting to befriend this little Scottish otter that's recently started coming around. We weren't sure of the sex, but I got a good look at the nuggets tonight. Surprised that my boys aren't upset when he's here. We're planning on checking him for a chip when we can.
Accountability Post: Week 6 of exercise before bed. With as flat as this week has been, I haven't been sleeping as well. The bike isn't as engaging for me as walking. I turned on the pad for the first time this week today and got a bad motor error. Guess it didn't like me falling on it either. Sigh
Sadly, the yarn that I thought was cotton turned out to not actually be cotton or to have some coating to prevent the dye from taking. But my two fabrics came out great. I'll let them hang for a day to set the dyes before washing.
The snow has been met with mixed reviews. I dont think I've ever captured such a clear difference of my boys' personalities. #catsky #catsofbluesky
I almost forgot that I had a hank of cotton yarn that I wanted to dye. Rainbow snow! Anyone else remember The Furthest Away Mountain by Lynne Reid Banks?
Well, when it snows in March, I guess you make forbidden snow cones. But seriously, I've been wanting to use real snow for tie dying for a while now, but the snow missed Seattle all winter.
