Re: nostalgia for VHS tapes and other analog media, I saw someone say like "a VHS tape never sold my information to a nazi" and yes that's true! But the reason it's true is actually because Congress passed a law in 1988 specifically making it illegal for video stores to sell your rental history

i feel like if there was a method to reach people in their late twenties, that's an age where people might value and apply it bc they'll have experienced wearing through or damaging clothes. but alas, no structured and equitable way to reach ppl w standardised education quality

1 week ago 1 0 1 0

i think it would be possible and useful, though i wonder if the lack of independence at that age would lessen the benefits and impacts. similar to like money management.

it's already a small part of the home ec curriculum which i do lowkey think should be mandatory, if a little more modular

once again i have discovered the utility of public libraries from first principles. i would love for libraries to used soooo much more than they are. if i ever left the healthcare system i would be fighting to get into the library system tbh, whether from policy side or the library itself.

when thinking about basic clothing education tho it's hard to think of when and where it should take place. in school lots of people are not doing their own laundry. maybe in university? when people could do w learning? but not everyone goes. but how to reach ppl… wider problem i guess

i think there should be basic clothing and textile education for people. how to care for different fabrics, as well as things like… when you buy a long coat the vent at the back is sewn shut but you are supposed to remove that stitch. so many people walkin around w tacked shut coat vents

"Magataotao" on Twitter writes: "I am Catholic. This👇is not my Pope."

Attached is a video of the Pope saying that we should search for peace and reject war.

A community note under their tweet says: "You are not a Catholic if you do not accept the Pope, but rather a schismatic.

Canon 751: “Schism is the refusal of submission to the Supreme Pontiff,” ie. the Pope.

So, I'm calling for all trans folks and allies to block the M50 with rented tractors until the NGS is abolished, healthcare for kids reestablished and the conversion therapy bill is passed. I'm sure AGS won't crack our heads open in the first hour.

Nirvana live LA Forum
Nirvana live LA Forum 20 years ago tonight (December 30, 1993) I stood on Kurt's side of the stage at my hometown's Los Angeles Forum and captured the last set I would see of this band. A band that I had worked with, toured with; people that I would call my friends. A band that both the world and myself really loved (can't really say this has happened since.) Within just a few short months it would sadly all be over. Sharing a few songs here; a couple covers (Vaselines' "Jesus" & Bowie's "Man Who Sold The World") and All Apologies. I'm glad to have documented this show, as well as their pre-fame fun in 1991. www.wegotpowerfilms.com

Clearing out old tabs and i had this one open for… 12 years?

This is footage of Nirvana's last gig in LA in Dec 1993 and it's very good.

if you’re in or near donegal this week you can pop down to glebe house & gallery where you can see their Easter show, which I’m very proud to say features these four pieces by me. It’s open every day from 10-6 until Sunday.

A portion of this is probably due to Old English catholic mortgagees reclaiming land in the post-Restoration period but the majority of cases involves Cromwellian officers or Adventurers seizing the land as payment.

2 weeks ago 49 3 1 0

This reflects the national picture whereby this case of enforced dispossession of elites and attempted neutering of their political power saw Catholic land ownership drop from 42% in 1641 to just 16% in 1670.
