QA has entry level roles and highly competitive. I've seen people move sideways to production or design from here.
This site can help more with getting an idea of all the roles in the industry and what's expected of them
entrylevel.games
Hm, that's a bit tricky unless they are looking to build up one of those skillsets
Typically in game dev, the entry or junior level positions are in programming, art or level scripting/design
Production doesn't really have an entry path for the most part. People tend to come from other disciplines
What skills/experience do they have?
@javieracordero.bsky.social Hi! You used to have a Game Dev LFW Notion site at javieracordero.notion.site/cce9a8faef6e...
Did it move? If so, where to? I had this in my GameDev Megadoc and noticed the link was dead ๐
docs.google.com/document/d/1...
Is it a service for a game or discovery/analytics platform for games that are out there?
Oh sweet, thanks! I will update the doc :)
Hi @andreeagajda.bsky.social ! I maintain the stevenyau.co.uk/gamedev-mega... and one of the resources was your awesome Notion pages on marketing gacrivastudio.notion.site/d1e4e8a86bb5...
Has that moved and if so, what's the new URL?
Really happy to sponsor events like this! ๐ฎ These events and more are much needed to help our industry grow.
Can't wait to see what gets showcased!

In Netflix in No Rule Rules, they also talk about how each person has virtual 'chips' (budget) that they can make bets on decisions/projects with. Their performance isn't judged on a single outcome but from the aggregate and requires 'zooming out' from individual results.
We often hyper focus on individual results and outcomes instead of looking at our decision making over a longer period regardless of the outcomes.
Success doesn't always mean that good decisions were made yet we often quickly cite that as the reason for success.
And inversely, failure doesn't mean that decision quality was poor.
Slowly making progress through my book backlog ๐
"Thinking in Bets" by Annie Duke covers how often we wrongly link results with the quality of decisions made to get there and the need to separate decision making quality from outcomes.

Training sims, serious games, education/e-learning
No tipping point for me, more of moving towards interesting projects/companies which is sometimes games related, sometimes not
Ah, saw the first post!
I've moved into games adjacent stuff and almost standard app dev
Currently using Phaser at Gather Town so game dev skills are being used there
Otherwise, the usual suspects. Gambling/slots, architecture, robotics, AI training sims, branded experiences, e-commerce ....
Out of interest, what are you looking for?
Thanks! I currently have it under "๐งฑ Building and Making the Game Learning Resources" ๐

โข A 5 step checklist for putting in a central line reduced infection rates from 11% to 0% during a 10 day period
โข Good checklists need practice and iteration to be useful. They are reminders, not guides
โข A team checklist gives them an opportunity to confer/raise issues

This looks like a better version of my #gamedev toolkit megadoc and it's community funded!
Check it and help contribute ๐
Oh cool, this is a better format than my megadoc of something similar ๐
Feel free to nab all the resources/links from mine stevenyau.co.uk/game-maker-t...
Finished Boss Fight Books Shovel Knight! ๐ Really great insight on their creative process and collaboration as a team.
But this page hit pretty hard on how close they were money wise and wondered if there was an alternative. Eg funding, grant or even an advance

Thanks for the shoutout!
