What happens when you have a prescribed fire at the end of the dry season, fire of high severity with T>700ºC? The Cerrado blooms! 45 days post-fire and a high proportion of the spp flowering and fruiting. Isn’t that amazing? #Cerrado #FireEcology @leveg.bsky.social @programabiota.bsky.social

This experience was amazing! I was a panelist at the Green Zone at the COP30, talking about fire and resilient landscapes and communities, together with people representing the government, female fire brigade and indigenous people! #cop30

The Cerrado is really amazing! Post-fire flowering is one of the most interesting and beautiful fire response! It is not a response of a specific species or family! Bulbostylis paradoxa never fails and can be seen flowering already 18 hs after fire! @leveg.bsky.social @programabiota.bsky.social

We just did the 153th burn since 2013 in our plots! In each burn we measured different fire parameters like fire intensity, fuel load, fire temperature, etc. Thanks to all students, local people and the fire brigade who helped in all experimental fires! @leveg.bsky.social @programabiota.bsky.social

Last week, the @oxfordecosystems.bsky.social team and I participated in the ATBC2025 meeting in Oaxaca, México. It was great to see so many cool research presentations! During the event, @manumachadoeco.bsky.social and I organised a symposium about Cerrado fire ecology and conservation (see thread):

Yesterday the BRIVAC, a volunteer fire brigade, did a prescribed fire during the II Seminário Regional do Manejo Integrado do Fogo. In Brazil, local volunteers are essential for the success of fire management, including during wildfires. Bravo BRIVAC!
