Nice idea!
Yeah, I'm doing exactly the same in my game.
I've got a limit of 10 enemies & 7 enemy bullets currently which is pushing it a bit at times, but there is room for optimisation. Hoping to increase the bullet count...although 7 does feel more than it sounds when they're rapidly flying around.
I agree entirely.
I'm curious - do you treat enemies, bullets etc separately (with a limit for each)? Or do you have a pool of objects, where each object can be any type of game element?
Someone made it, but it didn't get released (due to licensing issues IIRC).
In addition there is a ground pin, and two pins used for analogue paddles. I presume the 'new' 2 button joysticks use one of the paddle inputs.
Oh brilliant! I'm pleased you liked it - thanks for letting me know!
Picture of the GCE / US version of Vyrzon for the Vectrex.
Received my 'GCE' version of Vyrzon today!
If anyone wants one:

Yep! It has limitations but hoping it's good enough for some interesting bosses...
Thank you!
Thank you! There is still a long way to go but pretty pleased with how it is coming along!
Cheers Chris!
Thanks!
Been furiously trying to tick off as many things as poss from the todo list lately. Lots done, next is a biggie - enemy bullet system needs rebuilding from scratch.
Quite a few fun things done - see vid:
#vectrex #vyrzonii #shmup
The same dev did C64 versions of Minestorm & Spike from the Vectrex too.
I usually use my cocktail table for playing, but like the standard controller when developing as I don't have much space (and need to know it works with the analog stick).
Yours look great though, I didn't know you still made them!
Hah yep, working on a new 'lightning' bomb!
Yes it's the Sean Kelly one, got it from consoleboxes.com. Highly recommended.
Have you seen VIDE? It does all that and much more:

That sounds like a good deal!
They are very expensive these days. I got this one 20 years ago for £40!
Treated myself to a new #vectrex controller. It's excellent, my old one had 5mm+ up & down play in the joystick.
Didn't think the 2-screens were widescreen but could be wrong.
Closest machine I saw was the 2-screen X-Men. They did some amazing things with arcade games back in the day!
Most of them had 3 screens I believe. I never saw one out in the wild unfortunately but must have been quite an experience!
Finding the last 'good' version is half the battle!
Been there...sometimes doing what you're doing is the only way to get to the bottom of it. Very annoying when you just want to crack on!
Good luck!
Lots of them were made by one child...
I'd take the original apart to clean first though (if you haven't already), before doing anything more drastic!
Put a normal pot (of same rating, size, pin spacing) where the original was.
Bypass the power switch by connecting the wires on opposite sides of the switch together. Check continuity of the switch to make sure you connect the right ones.
Hard to find a direct replacement, I believe.
Worst case you could put a standard pot in for volume and bypass the power switch part (always on). Then power it on/off at the wall.
I didn't realise Taito did a Defender cabinet. I prefer the look of that to the Williams one (*ducks*)
