@101computing.bsky.social is consistently a source of great ideas, resources and activities.

If you've not followed them or visited the site then you really, really should.

Hope all educators are enjoying their summer break from school, wherever they are and whatever they're doing! Between me the Computing HoD, my wife the specialist cancer nurse and our three (challenging) sprogs, feel like we've definitely earned this time away! #sunloungermodeengaged #teamcompsci

Use lots of parsons problems to help with the unpacking and repacking of these concepts - nice application of semantic wave theory. Loads of generators out there.

Sat in the garden listening to the birds singing away, seeing the clouds skud over, getting some work done for school and unfortunately I get the regular magnificent sound of Jet Turbines overhead as I get to see the aircraft taking off from EGGP! Glorious!

Sending good vibes for GCSE CS tomorrow!

Yet. Be optimistic!

See, that's commitment - normally in the past I've just repurposed (with permission) a ball of my mum's wool! Chucked it about at random, and then cut some strands between 'nodes' so we can talk about alternative routes between specific students!

50 minutes seems right to me - doable in a return journey (or single depending on your commute!) to school! Also a good amount of time for listening too whilst working through daily jobs around the home! #TeamCompSci

Sue is so very deserving of this - #PRIMM Is a beautiful coalescence of elements that many educators have found to have worked when teaching programming. Sue has also been a prominent figure (from afar) in my journey too as a computing educator, plus she is a genuinely nice person! Hurrah!

I'd like to add to your very valid points, as I've been dipping into AI Literacy. To use your weights analogy, is it not also important to understand the effect of adding weights (=impact of using AI), the effect of doing max lighter sets or less, heavier sets (=how we train AI models) and so on...

Had an amazing day at @raspberrypiorg.bsky.social HQ for an AI Educator and Research Symposium. We had such a positive group of educators driving forward how AI should be taught in our schools. It's worth looking up Kelly Shiohira of UNESCO and Prof Matti Tedre of Finland to see why! #TeamCompSci

We got our 16yo a PS5 and our 8yo an XBox series X for Christmas. 8yo has literally been on it four times, yet it's now been used every night ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

On a separate note, seems to be progressing very nicely through my licences on MSFS2024, and making progress in Jedi Survivor! ๐Ÿคฃ
