That particular anime has the problem of having fans (and arguably promotional material) who are extremely fond of lying about how well it treats gender norms. It’s regularly recommended as a “subversion of gender roles” when it outright says being girly is being shy and meek.

They’re not. These ppl never engage with actual BL.

The first season of Clear Card mostly passed under the radar, I imagine the 2nd would either passed unnoticed or be hated (since it’s both terrible from an artistic point of view and contains CLAMP’s most problematic relationship to date)

It’s not ? I’ve only read the manga but it serves its premise as a fantasy adventure quite well, and both Emeraude’s plotline (which kind of serves as a precursor to Anthy’s story in RGU) and Hikaru’s conflict in Rayearth II are very well done
