@jenbiddle.bsky.social is connecting fetch to songs I listened to as a kid (thanks mom and dad), referencing TV shows my kids love (Octonauts still slaps btw), and reassuring me the science (and my comparative grade) backed my note taking choices.

My first classes? Two semesters each of physics, organic chemistry, and calculus. Good lord it was hard. In every class I was the weird old guy w/ three kids, no computer, and taking notes in a notebook. Enter @jenbiddle.bsky.social‘s Intro to Marine Science (or something like that).

It wouldn't be overstating it to say this class was a core memory in my education journey. ~10 years earlier I had dropped out of school 90% of the way to a psychology degree. I had muddled through a mini-career as a financial advisor before going back to finish my undergrad at UD

I told my class how @lgpens.bsky.social once sat as a student in my class and has forever been scarred by my lectures of how the fetch of the Great Lakes creates large, dangerous waves.

I had my first @skypeascientist.bsky.social talk (session? chat? meeting?) today. Two third grade classes and it was AWESOME! The enthusiasm! And such fantastic questions! I just hope they weren’t too disappointed I haven’t caught a barracuda or a white shark or a swordfish 🧪🌊🐠
