Very nice and informative ‘viewpoint’ on CDR:
Various methods of carbon dioxide removal (CDR) are being pursued in response to the climate crisis, but they are mostly not proven at scale. In this Viewpoint, six experts offer their views on the CDR debate.

If you’re into metal isotopes check out Wenhao Wangs new paper from our mid-Atlantic ridge GEOTRACES section. Fe and Cr isotope profiles mirror each other due to the redox chemistry of hydrothermal plumes. Plumes are likely a net sink of Cr.

Nice “Sputnik” plot tribute @davidho.bsky.social. Struck by just how impoverished deep Pacific DOC appeared, it led me read to the original paper by Hansell et al (2009); a perfect rabbit hole for this morning’s train commute. tos.org/oceanography...
I often see this comparison of glaciers on Svalbard posted without attribution. It’s from a whole series comparing photos taken by the Norwegian Polar Institute in 1928 and by Christian Åslund, a Stockholm-based photographer, in 2002. See the others here:

Total admiration for these two and the work they’re doing here. If you have two mins to read - I find it impossible not to feel good that people & projects like this exist here in the UK.
🧪⚒️ This is a cool experiment: simulating pyroclastic flows travelling across water with a giant wave tank and real volcanic ash. Some spectacular footage!

This will feature as tonight’s bedtime viewing with my kids 🤩
Are you a marine chemist? A geochemist? Think about applying for a job at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute and work with a bunch of my friends (nice peeps)

Three years, ten drafts and 222 pages later, I am thrilled to announce the release of The Seaweed Forager by Rebecca Gouldhurst.
It was a pleasure to act as Rebecca's lead copy editor and proofreader, and to learn all about nature's superfood!
Thanks Caroline. Congratulations on the work. It reminded me of a talk by Bernie Boudreaux during Rob Raiswell’s retirement do (where I think we first met!). I can’t recall details of the talk now, except being fascinated by his intro to bubbles in mud then too.
This is cool - I’m intrigued by potential bubble feedbacks occurring in the sediment here. To what extent do you think bubble induced mixing across the sed-water interface might promote any other porewater fluxes?

So, I made my first post in this magical new world, but only then realised it’s full of meaningless @handles from a parallel universe! 😂🤦🏻♂️Hopefully they’ll be with us here soon too..
