Phobos Nation holds maybe a third of the entire orbital population. The rest are shared between numerous orbitals. Deimos doesn’t exist anymore.

As of 2373, both Titan and Callisto have a larger population than the whole of Mars. Martian orbit, however, is quite populated with numerous nations.

Chromata, one of the four Diamond Cities of the Cassini Dependencies. While most Saturnian void cities are made from parked asteroids, Chromata and her sister orbitals are built out of deconstructed moonlets within Saturn's ring system.

Day 9: Hunter

A remote, signal collecting spacecraft makes a low pass over Despina. Her antenna is turned away from noisy Neptune, facing outward into the high orbits... listening sharply, hunting.

She is one of many thousands in the outer Solar System.

Superimpose these charts with those of other aircraft (cargo/tanker/C2/ISR/rescue) and infrastructure (runways, secure hangers, radar, comm, fuel storage and transport, munitions, base defense) and you'll paint a surprising and concerning picture of the USAF... and the DoD as a whole.

Save NASA Science Action Hub Updates and actions on the proposed cuts to NASA science in FY 2027.

If you’ve been moved & inspired by Artemis, NASA needs your help. Literally during A2, the president proposed cutting NASA science 47%, canceling 54 missions, including many already in-flight. To help stop these cuts, check out @planetarysociety.bsky.social www.planetary.org/save-nasa-sc...

Seriously, if I had a nickel for every time I heard “I can hear them but they can’t hear me”… I’d have at least a few dollars… maybe.

My aircraft had like 20 radios… this kind of thing happened a lot.

5-ball was a good jet… maintenance rate excluded. She just had a good personality. She was one of those jets that if you rubbed her chin pod just right she’d give you her best. Ol’ “Captain Planet” was one of my most flown tail numbers. It’s a shame she’s rubble now.

OH MY GOD! BALLS 5!!! She’s gone!

I have 180 hours flying that tail number. I’ve flown her everywhere from Korea to Kansas to Iraq… I can’t believe she’s gone. I’ve used the lav in that tail section, I’ve slept in the bunks where that gaping hole is… unbelievable.

For HVAA, there are not a lot of great alternatives either. These jets need big runways, big tarmacs, lots of crew accommodations, lots of maintenance capability and TONS of jet fuel available.

There aren't a ton of airfields that fit that bill in the Gulf, almost none that aren't vulnerable.

Could also be checklist/coordination/prep for non-normal approach. When I was in the pacific we had an emergency RTB about once or twice a week (between KC135s, E3s and fighters, though only the heavies normally have landing weight issues). Just more evidence of how overstrained these fleets are.
