Finale

A period of paranoia after initial First Contact precipitated SVG to install self-destruct mechanisms on board their ships, in case of hijackings, boarding action or piracy. Essentially a suitcase bomb linked to the drive core.

30. Finale The daring adventurers had finished their explorations of the Forge, months of preparation had led to this moment and they were running, they’d set up a series of explosives within vital systems and were fleeing before they set off, beginning a cascade failure of the Forge’s systems. The party reached the elevator, bundling in as one of them punched the button lifting them up and away from danger. Their ship was prepared in the hangar and they were ready to go the second the adventurers were on board. As the elevator hurtled upward, explosions began to ring out beneath them, getting louder and louder as flashes of light began illuminating the Fire Brigade. It was a tense minute as the elevator rose, the forge felt like it was already beginning to shake itself apart but the damage hadn’t reached the reactor yet. The elevator reached the top, and impatient to escape, one of the party blasted the doors, sending them flying outward as they began to hear the scuttling of security drones pursuing them up the shaft.

The party ran, through the hallway and down the ramp to the hangar, more explosions rang out as they began running up the ramp to board the ship, one of the party stopping to trigger a stowed cannon, allowing it to deal even more damage to the forge. The last of the crew boarded the ship, and one of the party, the noblewoman, gave the order for them to take off. The ship flew out of the hangar, seconds before explosions began to tear through the area. They all watched with bated breath, as one of them counted down, when her countdown reached 0, the forge exploded, the shockwave pushing their ship forward, through the rapidly closing warp gate they were aiming for, ready to take them home.

29. Drones Within the Lower Forge, intricate systems spread throughout, feeding power and materials to the complicated systems spread throughout, from the power collectors on the outside all the up to the component fabricators within maintenance, and these systems weren’t maintained by themselves. Patrolling the Lower Forge were a series of drones, humanoid automatons with arms and legs, spider-like crawlers able to get into the smallest gaps where needed, and even ball shaped ones, able to roll along and get to the most urgent repairs where needed. Along with these were also a series of security drones, ready to deal with any intruder, thieves, or saboteurs. Mostly they kept well hidden, and were armed with a variety of weaponry, including darts filled with a toxin able to suppress all kinds of fantastical abilities that any intruders may have.

A more realistic design than my usual fare, very linear except from a rotatable habitat ring, and mostly in white apart from a few black or gold bits. There's also a lot more surface detail than I normally feature, intended to suggest a particularly large ship with an emphasis on function over form.

Day 28: Exploration. I started this for day 24, but it wasn't really capturing "test flight". So I put it aside, with just the hab ring and engines done, and finished it today. This was a fun one-off, not part of my setting or to any particular scale. #LEGO #Shiptember #Spaceshiptember2025 #SST25

28. Exploration The party of adventurers took their first steps aboard the Forge space station, finding an eerily quiet and empty upper section of the station, save for a chatty couple of human replica automatons that pointed the party toward their initial target, Zarmer, member of the council of arcanum, who was busy building a body for a demigod to inhabit. Upon defeating Zarmer and this partially reborn demigod, the party spent days exploring the upper areas of the forge, finding dormant creature eggs and creatures in suspended animation. They found the hangar and set the three autognome mechanics to work, repairing and restoring the council’s flagship ready for the party to make their escape. Much of the Lower Forge still remains primed and ready for exploration, many defense and maintenance systems await, along with other dangers that the adventurers will have to avoid.

Its big and egg shaped but it gets the job done. This transport has become very popular with its cheap cost and easy to maintain design.

26. Superliminal Wensleydale lay within the quarantine bay she’d been taken to, despite the healer’s best efforts, she’d been unable to cure the parasite that was slowly overtaking the dragon. As Wensleydale resigned herself to this fate, she lay locked within this chamber, though surprisingly this hive mind consciousness that the parasite had seemed to allow her to feel other perspectives, even if it was slowly making her feel less connected to her own body. Sure she could see the four walls of her cell, but at the same time she could see a far off mountain landscape down on the planet below, along with a war torn battlefield where the parasite had taken over a dying soldier. Eventually she’d be entirely taken over by this hive mind, but for now she could at least enjoy these alternate views, rather than simply remaining helpless, lying there within her cell. It may take hundreds of years, but eventually she is found, cured, and fully restored. While the parasite was eradicated from the planet below, being eradicated once and for all by those wielding great power to cure Wensleydale.

27. Station The Forge of Arcanum was a wonderful, yet at the same time terrible space station. Hidden above the planet below it had powerful cloaking technology to avoid detection, while only a few knew of its existence and guarded the secret closely. The station consisted of two main sections, with the Upper Forge consisting of three floors, the topmost containing living quarters, a luxurious observation deck, and an advanced medbay with cloning technology. The middle floor contained the main reception, where two robotic administrators waited to serve the station’s owners however they saw fit. The lower floor contained elevators leading to the Lower Forge, along with the hangar bay, and a set of greenhouses in front of a small animal enclosure. The Lower Forge was where the space station manufactured terrible weapons. It featured a factory floor, a whole robotic maintenance crew, assembly stations, and at the bottom there was a large bay where the Godkiller was being built, a humanoid figure the size of a skyscraper, ready to be piloted to deliver destruction beyond what anyone had ever seen before.

Superluminal

Cargo transit gates wrap a superluminal field around autonomous cargo drones, sending them along point-to-point shipping lanes. These fields last a few light-minutes, enabling fast shipping within a system.
