Delighted Newcastle Uni has been recognised for outstanding research in #DLB. Fantastic achievement and superb teamwork spanning 3 decades! Paving the way for better diagnostics, underlying mechanisms and ultimately treatments and a cure! 🧠 🔬
Had an excellent day at the Parkinson’s UK North East and Cumbria research day! Fantastic discussions with people with Parkinson’s and carers about brain changes we can see under the 🔬.
A bit gutted we didn’t bump into Régis Le Bris
I’m sure the talk was amazing, but the shoes are top tier!
Exciting opportunity to work in the field of DLB research!
For those interested in how I’ve managed to relate the DeLorean to research using brain tissue, tune in on Wednesday! #ShowingMyAge 🤣
Looking forward to this!! 🧠 🔬
First run post broken foot. That was hard 🥵. At least there were pretty things to look at #Home #It’sGrimUpNorth
Excellent tips, particularly when University finances are tight and conference attendance may be limited!
Neuropath collaboration (friends) on a Saturday night in Newcastle
This is disappointing! The North-East produces exceptional research! I’ve had the privilege of working alongside world leaders in Lewy body dementia at Newcastle University. Transparency as to how these institutions were selected is definately needed!
Excellent showcase of the research in the ARUK Northern networks! Had a great day!
I’m delighted to share my editorial for the July issue @brain1878.bsky.social academic.oup.com/brain/articl...
I feel seen as an ECR dependant on grant funding for continued employment. Some excellent points raised in this blog, and interesting discussion about how research grants are funded. Very much worth a read.
All ready and raring to go at the #DiscoverFest. Come talk to us about about brains and dementia 🧠 🔬
Anyone else do a little dance when the student assignment you are marking hits all of the things you outlined in the brief and more? Maybe it’s just me 🤓
The love story continues, but I think I aged 10 years in that match 😁
Looking for some free family friendly activities on 7th June in Newcastle? The Discover festival has you covered! I’ll be there with activities about how to keep our brains healthy and changes that happen in dementia 🔬🧠

Excellent opportunity to work on an exciting project with a fantastic scientist 🧬 🧠
Great paper suggesting a relationship between asyn and nuclear DNA damage. It was a pleasure to contribute a small amount towards this work
Exciting work form Borghammer's lab describing sympathetic and parasympathetic involvement and brain vs body first progression in #LBD #PD #DLB further read in bit.ly/41N13Z2
We set aside 20min in class for a Q&A on funding a lab, federal funding, IDCs, and ongoing policy shifts. Was definitely not enough time. Such great and insightful questions
Probably could have taken the whole class
Anyway. 10/10 would recommend
Excellent opportunity to work with a great scientist!
Congratulations Ian, well deserved 🎉
