This was a labour of love and collaboration. Lead by the amazing @helenadavies.bsky.social and @drniamhryan.bsky.social, this is the first of (hopefully many!) papers by the PGC's Outreach Committee.

Not only will this improve trust in science, it will also improve the science itself, by guiding researchers to design studies centred on outcomes that will be most meaningful for those living with psychiatric disorders⛑️.
With the increasing prevalence of mis- and disinformation, it is essential that we as researchers foster bidirectional flow of communication with ALL those affected by our research, from other scientists🧑🏽🔬, to clinicians, to those suffering from these conditions and beyond🌏.
This article discusses the integral role of multidirectional communication in the field of #psychiatricgenetics, the barriers it faces, and the ongoing efforts of the @pgcgenetics.bsky.social to integrate it into psychiatric genetics research🧠🧬.
I'm beyond THRILLED to share our latest publication, "From Genomes to Conversations: Outreach and Engagement in Psychiatric Genetics," published this month in Behaviour Genetics. 🎉

Super cool work, massive leaps for making #biological meaning out of #GWAS for #psychiatricdisorders 🎉
There was a lot of blood🩸, sweat😓and tears😢behind this work, but it was a privilege to do science I love for a cause I'm passionate about, #EatingDisorderReseach!
It resulted from my1️⃣successful research grant (many thanks @perroninstitute.bsky.social), a year living in New Zealand, teaching my self to (sort of🥴) code, and incredible mentorship and support from my supervisors, co-authors, and host research team the Gene Structure and Function Lab at Otago Uni
It's a small exploratory study of the eight known #anorexia #nervosa 🧬genetic risk loci using
