I was able to use @allaroundartisan.bsky.social 's
Drum carder for the first time on Sunday. I can be seen fluffing the fibers and picking out debris.

Soon, it'll be ready for felting or spinning, and it'll be time to clean another batch! 🧶

Artisan is gently squeezing (but not twisting) the water out so it doesn't carry a lot into the next rinse

I took a class on the boom loom and one how to judge a fleece.

And picked up a karakul, Jacob, and Jacob x churro fleeces for processing.

I've been quietly setting up a craft room. It's exciting to have this quiet space for all my stuff.

Today is Distaff Day

Today day marks the traditional end of Christmas festivities, when women resumed household chores, specifically spinning wool or flax into thread using the distaff, a day for women to return to their domestic craft after the holidays, often involving playful pranks with men.

I was just gonna make it a rectangle with a draw string, but I ended up trying a few things.

I pulled the bottom together with a draw string and sewed it shut.

Yeah, I have holes where I switched colors by bringing up the stand from below.

I also have holes where I cut the tail too short.

Well I didn't finish it in time but I was very close.

I have under one year of knitting practice and I believe I bit off just a little more than I could handle.

I would like to make some throws but l think I'll just do simple striping.
