´Ex-FIFA president Blatter joins those calling for boycott of World Cup in U.S.´

Sensible. I’m amazed anyone voluntarily flies to the USA anymore. The country is not governed by the rule of law right now.

Trump ties his stance on Greenland to not getting Nobel Peace Prize, European officials say Trump said Saturday that he would charge a 10% import tax on goods from eight European nations because of their opposition to American control of Greenland.

A madman is running the USA.

No other word for a guy who says he’s prepared to invade friendly countries and destroy the world order because he didn’t get a trophy.

Is there anything this lunatic could do that would make Republicans say enough?

He made up a fictional story about how York and its students are so afraid of him and his message that they shut him down.

In truth no one at York knows who this Alberta MP is or gives a shit what he’s talking about.

Typical Trump-style fake grievance nonsense from Conservatives.

Why Canada needs better data on strikes, unions and other labour issues Canada does a poor job of gathering labour relations information. In a period of rising inequality and renewed workplace conflict, stakeholders need better data.

ICYMI: How a dispute between @lacsn.bsky.social and the Montreal Economic Institute over inflated strike numbers underscores the need for better labour relations data.

Catholic Vice President Vance takes to social media to justify killing of Renee Good After the tragic shooting of Renee Good at the hands of ICE, the Catholic vice president of the United States took to social media to justify the killing.

Editorial in the National Catholic Reporter: "The vice president's comments justifying the death of Renee Good are a moral stain on the collective witness of our Catholic faith. His repeated attempts to blame Good for her own death are fundamentally incompatible with the Gospel."

Right, and also if some guy walks onto campus and just sets up a table to proselytize about something bad, Conservatives would be first in line screaming that the university isn’t protecting students against the harmful speech (see claims of anti-Semitism on campus). They talk out of both sides.

I often go to Law and Society too. No chance I’m going to Sam Francisco or any other U.S. city for at least 3 more years.

Conservative MP accuses students of free speech attack after campus event cancelled Conservative MP Garnett Genuis said a York University event was cancelled due to the student union. But York's student centre says the event was not approved because of booking policies,

Classic Conservative dog-whistle bullshit.

Conservative MP blamed Student Union and York University « for banning Conservative free speech ».

Then when told neither student union or University know anything about him or his alleged talk, he doubles down.

I have sabbatical starting July 2026!

I was planning to visit Cornell to work on various labour law projects, but you know, Trump. So no USA.

Instead, I’ll be a Visiting Professor at Oxford and the London School of Economics during the year instead!

So that turned out pretty excellent!

On a similar point, it is irresponsible for academics to schedule international academic conferences in the U.S. during the Trump regime. It is not safe for visitors.

All conferences should be moved aboard until further notice. We can host them in Canada.

Talked to my 96 year old mom today, who lived thru Nazis bombing her town in north England as a girl.

She commented on how she never imagined that she’d be living in a time when the United States was the bad guy threatening war all over the world, including against allies.

Sad times indeed.

Professional athletes used to stand for something. Professional sports unions and leagues could be leading the resistance against Trump’s fascism and hate movement.

Instead, silence and capitulation.

Great article.
