@rogerprotz.bsky.social Roger, did you see the photos I posted of our presentations at the Vine, Pittshill and the Golden Cup, Hanley, earlier this month? If not, I'll send them!

I definitely and wholeheartedly support this. We need to get the GBBF back. Maybe slimmed down, and choice of location is important. It must be centrally located so as to get passing trade as well as the regular attendees.

Glad to have seen you today as well! My first GBBF was Birmingham in 1983, and I've been to most since then. I will remember the great festivals at Olympia & Earls Court. It's always been an important part of my year, and will be sadly missed. Hopefully see you at the St Albans fest in September!

Sadly my motion was lost. Let's hope the review next year will find a way to a slimmed down GBBF, showcase for Cask, campaigning tool for CAMRA. The packed glory days of Olympia, rebuilt & unsuitable, & Earls Court, now housing, are over.

Sorry the motion failed, Roger. I don't think there is a problem with the GBBF. Last year it was at the wrong venue - too big, and not well placed for passing trade. However the NE don't see this. I hope we can change their minds on this, because it needs to return as soon as possible.

I'll support that, Roger. It's not the same without the GBBF.

It's the CAMRA Members Weekend in St Albans. CAMRA needs to have a presence here! @rogerprotz.bsky.social is doing a great job, and my branch @camrapotteries.bsky.social is there. Time to ditch X and come to where the sky is blue.

I'm here all weekend, and not rushing off on Sunday either. I had enough of Sunday travel from Torquay last year.

Hoping to catch up with you over the weekend!

A matter of personal opinion. I prefer Doom Bar 😊

But still a decent beer, imho.

But cask Doom Bar is OK! I hope the brewing continues elsewhere. It's currently the best selling cask beer in the UK, and there were many times in the past when it was the only cask offering in the pubs I visited.

Four years have passed since Russia's full scale invasion of Ukraine. Russia was supposed to win in three days. Instead, Ukraine reinvented modern warfare, built a drone industry, and can destroy a thousand Russian soldiers in a day. Ukraine can win.

It's 17 years since I opened my Twitter account. I closed it just over a year ago. But it was good for the first 10 years or so, until Musk's takeover finished it for me. Things are much better here!

I never met him, but his book 'Cask' is a standard reference for me. RIP.

That's even cheaper than here, where it's typically £4-£4.50 a pint. But don't you think it's nit what it used to be, now the brewing process has changed?
