Photo of a hand holding a "I voted!" sticker from a Western Virginia County.
My GenZ/Millennial eldest's BFF, a western Virginia resident, sends her thanks to the local GOP for texting and calling her dozens of times to remind her to vote today.
Of course she voted yes.

Just to be clear, we here in Oregon got rid of Chavez-DeRemer. We don't want that trash back. Thank you for your attention.

But Mounjaro is the same as Zep, like Ozempic and Wegovy. One for diabetes, the other for weight loss and other conditions.

Medicare won't cover Mounjaro for diabetes? That's crazy, especially since they'll cover it for sleep apnea. I'm sorry, Barb, that's ridiculous. I pay out of pocket for both my and Jonah's Zep, but I'm looking at finally having J tested for sleep apnea, and maybe they'll cover it.

I have friends who eventually switched from Ozempic to Zep when the former stopped being effective (since Zep can be taken at higher doses.) I'm pretty much at goal/maintenance now (40% down) but figure I'll be on it forever since it also put my MS and IBS into remission.

Things I will never get used to on Zepbound:
Getting buzzed on two sips of wine.
Putting a fraction of the food I used to put on my plate and still eating only a fraction of it.
Tossing leftovers rather than putting them away to eat later.

It's not gone: #USDA reports 5 more dairy herds in Idaho have tested positive for #H5N1 #birdflu, the first in months.
In the 2+ years since the virus was first detected in cows in the US, 1,093 herds in 19 states have tested positive for the virus. www.aphis.usda.gov/livestock-po...

I was four when Apollo 8 orbited the moon for the first time and it's one of my first real memories.
It's so sweet to watch her grow on 🦋. (Thank you.)

Eric Swalwell and Graham Platner are reminders that Democrats need to stick to their principles or face consequences

He should resign. We are not the GOP, who would keep Epstein in Congress if it maintained their majority. That is not us.

Not "most". Yes, a majority, but that is not "most". And other than being somewhat pro-choice, she was never "moderate" on social issues, and being fiscally conservative in a state like Maine is a death-sentence for many. Olympia was always more moderate—and much smarter—than Collins.

So Platner voted for Susan Collins THREE TIMES??? So he’s never voted for a Democrat for Maine Senate, has he? Did he even vote for Angus?
I do hope my home state has more sense than to nominate this GOP plant.

"Luddites" is a good term for those who oppose AI because the Luddites weren't against *all* technology, just forms of technology that they knew would pay workers less and turn out a shittier product

📅#OTD On this day in 1646, London.
The House of Lords agrees to the court martial of William Murray, a gentleman of King Charles I's bedchamber.
Murray had been arrested on his arrival in London (from France) and imprisoned in the Tower. He had been found disguised 'by Hair' and using a false name.

I have an almost 2-year old guy (Calvin) who is like that: Jumps into my lap while I'm on the computer and demands I pet him for at least 10 minutes throughout the day. Unfortunately, he also does it at night while I'm in bed. But I do love him. The most affectionate cat I've ever had.

I posted about this a couple of weeks ago, but the family had not released details to the press. They have now.
The civil suit against the city and police will continue. The world is poorer with the loss of such a principled and brave man.

Fun fact:
Conviction on impeachment requires a vote of 2/3 of the senators *present*.
25th Amendment removal requires (among other steps) a vote of 2/3 of the senators *voting*.

They need to go back. Don’t wait for republicans. Go sit in the House chamber and demand action. Hold press conferences every single day on the Capitol steps.
Embarrass republicans and the media into acting.

I wanted to get this up quickly--you know, pre-Armageddon--so I failed to include my rage at so much of the legacy media for sane-washing this motherfucker, from 2015 right up through today. The NYT called his "end of civilization" post a "grave threat."
