This was followed with a terrible dad style joke about relationships and how one should never find themselves in a 'dative covalent bond relationship'

Tricky one. I've just finished bonding and noticed how much I personified atoms about how much they 'want' a full outer shell. I did also flip it round saying, we are like atoms and typically want to assume the most stable state. Would they rather stand or sit for the whole lesson?

A sperm whale surfacing with a giant squid in its mouth.

I love seeing things like this. Reminds me of the raw and beautiful savagery of nature.

ChemDraw turned 40 this week! 🎉

I worked with Revvity Signals to put together this graphic showing how the chemical drawing program has developed from basic beginnings to the integration of features to predict spectra and highlight structural features

Digital lab report videos: using digital platforms to enhance the storytelling and understanding of practical work

Why not try a digital lab report video? www.ase.org.uk/resources/sc...

Trialled it last year with a chemistry practical and doing it again for a biology investigation this year.

A primary headteacher recently got in touch: what are schools doing about AI in reports? Allowing it? Banning it?

Here's what we found out...
🤷‍♀️ Over half of teachers said their school has no policy
✅ 33% say AI use is explicitly allowed
🚫 5% of schools have banned it

I usually set as homework and have found experience of Minecraft varies so difficult to say. Engagement can be through the roof for some. I have learnt to have other options available, or allow them to work collaborately. For the digestive system I have had some simply do one part.

Through Office365 we have signed pupils up to MinecraftEdu. There is no reason why regular Minecraft can't be used for those who own the game. I ask them to model learning, through screen shots or videos. KS3 they make a digestive system. KS5 models of membrane and cell. Also done nitrogen cycle
