Why do I feel like an outlier because I think society should work for everyone? Not just those with $$ or proximity to power? #Socialism #Humanist #EqualityForAll

Today’s Lessons:
Crutches are a pain. I often feel better after puking. Toby is amazing. Friends make everything better.

She and the doc and I were chatting and then I woke up in recovery!! 🤪🤪🤪

Took all the pain medicine they offered; even some anti-anxiety thing and anti nausea thing. Anti-anxiety worked much better than anti-nausea!

Docs called Toby after and said it all went well.

My newest accessory. Mine until May 7 follow up with the surgeon.

My bestestest friend picked up an extra shift (she’s a respiratory therapist /anesthesiologist assistant) so lovely to see her and she helped get me settled…

Today in random happiness - the new #TPL website lets users add books to a “For Later” shelf. If you designate a favourite branch you can see if any of your For Later shelf books are available right now. Went to pick up 1, came out with 4. #BooksMakeMeHappy #TorontoReads #BookSky 📚💙

There are so many nifty challenges on #Storygraph - it might not change what I am reading but how I look at the books I pick :)

Anyone else doing reading quests? I discovered my city has a book award - started in mid-1970s with often 2-3 books/year in the early years. I'm still in the 70s but the goal is to track them all down. Thankfully the #TorontoPublicLibrary has most! 📚💙 #booksky #ReadingQuest #TorontoReads #TPL

How the hell am I supposed to take this author seriously? “…various Algonkian languages in New England all date back to a common ancestor that appeared in the Northeast a few centuries before Christ?”

WTF? Historical dating by fictional character? It’s the 3rd example in the first 43 pages.

Equipment issue led to excessive LNG Canada flaring, docs reveal | The Narwhal LNG Canada delayed reporting ‘integrity issue’ to regulators and never fully informed the public, while locals raised concerns about noise, smoke and emissions

"The regulator told The Narwhal...it has not issued any penalties for non-compliance." Months & months of noncompliance! Think of the good the fines could do.

I spent a bunch of the Olympics trying to convince myself it's ok if Americans win things because the athletes aren't the politicians but then Kash Patel parties in the locker room and the White House does this

I am over the moon excited and want to learn some more about classical music really. I haven't "studied" it since high school music class. So whatcha got for me? Favourite books? Podcasts? etc. #TSO #ClassicalMusic #AlwaysLearning #AlwaysReading

I wish CBC could just suck up the costs and play the whole parade of nations. We're such a diverse country! We deserve to see and hear a little bit about every country.

H Is for Hawk by Helen Macdonald audiobook review – a soaring journey through grief The author brings introspection and humour to their inspiring account of how a young goshawk helped them cope after the loss of their father

I've never been big into audiobooks but this maybe what gets me to try again:

When did the idea rise that the government is some sort of revenue machine? That it’s run as a business?

The whole point of the government is providing public goods - they benefit everyone whether you individually go to that park or drive on that road or visit that hospital. #Socialism #ONPoli

Can anyone tell me a little bit about research in the 1970s before I get annoyed with an author? Story from 1975. I looked up a car part mentioned. It turns out the car wasn’t made until 5 years(at least) after the story says. I mean why mention the year, make, model if it’s wrong? Even in the 70s?!
