Green heraldic shield with a light blue river running diagonally across it. In the river is a reddish brown squirrel holding a nut and sitting on a chipped plank of yellow wood.

Good to see this volume coming together - the result of a hugely enjoyable conference involving @profelainechalus.bsky.social, @nationaltrust.bsky.social and @hillaryburlock.bsky.social - and a lot of work since by Hillary Burlock and Tatjana LeBoff...

Photograph of a woman smiling and holding a book. Background is a cream wall with panelling. The woman has brown hair and wears a purple jumper with a black skirt.

Photograph of a book, with a stack of six books behind. The book cover is a portrait painting of a woman in a wide gold and white dress, with a red curtain behind her. The book cover has blue detailing around the text: 'Queen Charlotte: Family, Duty, Scandal. Natalee Garrett.' The books rest on blue fabric and behind them is a cushion decorated with an 18th-century painting of a woman in a silver dress, with two children and a dog at her feet.

My author copies arrived, so I had to do a photoshoot! 3 years of hard work condensed into 378 pages 📖

'Queen Charlotte: Family, Duty, Scandal' is now available from @routledgehistory and all good booksellers!

Coat of Arms of Sir George Pocock, a Knight of the Bath

Coat of Arms of Sir George Pocock, a Knight of the Bath

Working today on the design of a coat of arms for a recipient of an Honour from the Crown in a recent Honours List - all such recipients are entitled to petition for Arms. Always fascinating to hear about their service.

Royal Arms of king of #Spain-Habsburg, 1555-1700.
In Q3 #Burgundy the bordure compony is not completed, and should be argent & gules; of Austria appears gules only, instead of Gules, a fess Argent.
Heraldic Book by Tho. Barneston & others.
BL, HarleyMS1993.

Inspired by @gvaughnjoy.bsky.social , I have started a very rough list of Napoleonic history, and 18th & 19th century accounts that you may want to follow.

It’s not a comprehensive list, let me know if you want to be added.
