In Reverence: The Trip A long time ago, in a galaxy far less apocalyptic than this one. In a time of Dionysian revelry and joy (for me at least). Long before Married at First Sight, First Dates, Celebrity SOS, or any of that other vapid, civilisation-eroding nonsense. 4Later/Channel 4 (UK) aired an eight-part programme on the tellybox that genuinely blew my tiny, impressionable mind — burrowing deep into my hippocampus like a vole.

In the '90s, Channel 4 aired an eight-part series at 2:50am mixing rare NASA footage with electronic music. It was called The Trip, and it genuinely rewired my brain. #TheTrip #Channel4 #4Later #ElectronicMusic #RaveCulture #90sBritain #Plastikman #BoardsOfCanada #CultTV #UKRave

5 Tewns Vol.17 Olá pobl! It’s Dydd Gwener, so welcome back to another rip‑roaring instalment of 5 Tewns. I haven’t done much this week, if truth be told, so I won’t harp on too much. 5 Tewns Vol.16 I didn’t write anything about music during January or most of February. Instead, it's been near-biblical rainfall, and bouts of illness and depression have also reared their head -- as usual. If I’m honest, I didn’t really listen to much either, apart from the odd philosophy or witchcraft podcast here and there. However, the clouds have finally dispersed, the ground is drying out, and I’ve had enough mental space to dig in and find a few gems.

From Laura Cannell's transcendental medieval drones to turbo-speed percussive techno, here’s my top five for the week #fuzzyfrontiers #5tewns #henogledd #drone #shabaka #jazz #psychedelic #ambient #lauracannell

Fuzzy Frontiers Albums of 2025 (Part I) It’s been a complicated year, hasn’t it? I’m growing tired of saying that, to be honest. It feels as if the walls are forever closing in: more war, more financial insecurity, more tyrants, more tech barons and and and. It’s like standing knee-deep in someone else’s excrement. It can be really tough to keep it together, especially when faced with multiple crises, both at home and abroad.

5 Tewns Vol.15 Hiya! It’s been a pretty low week over here—a sense of impending doom hangs in the air. Pre-Christmas blues? Who knows, but as Albert Ayler said, music is the healing force of the universe, so here are my top five tewns for this deflated December week. Natural Magic - Don't Look Back II by Natural Magic Only heard this one today, but by God it’s beautiful.

Jammo’s pre-Christmas blues meet the healing power of music in 5 Tewns Vol. 15. Psychedelia, dreamlike ambience, introspective swells, and David Byrne on repeat—soundtracking a deflated December week.

5 Tewns Vol.14 Bore da pawb! I’m in the beautiful city of Braga today. I’ve got a couple of holes in my shoes, it’s pissing down, and the Christmas music blaring through the town is so distorted you’d be forgiven for thinking you were at a Merzbow gig. Nothing, however, will shake my unrelenting love for Braga. We soldier on, there are more important things to worry about.

Through the rain and wind, Jammo returns with a Bandcamp Friday–friendly selection featuring CV Vision, Elijah Minelli, Daisy Rickman, Semtek x Wes Baggaley and The Necks.

Atlantic Magic ghost-mist glides over river rush, weathering rock to the cold Atlantic drop. They move with Mountain energy, the surge to converge. Swallows glitch over a pylon’s buzz. This place is alive. It’s all around you. She inhales; a spectral breath, the distant motorway floods her mind. She knows. She is the river. She is the transitsong. She is everything. The veil between worlds falls.

“I try to remain a staunch materialist, something like an open-minded atheist, but when my seven-year-old asks, ‘Is God real, Dad?’ I never know what to say. How do you tell them no when you’ve met God, in the flesh, in a field outside Abingdon?”

5 Tewns Vol.13 I'm a little late as i'm a bit poorly at the moment, nevertheless, here's my top five tracks for this week... Harvestman - Herne's Oak Triptych: Part Three by Harvestman This deep, meditative track from Neurosis’ Steve Von Till — under his Harvestman project — has been soundtracking my misty morning dog walks all week. There’s a real brilliance in the way a solitary kick holds everything else in a sidechained push–pull during the intro, slowly guiding you into an epic drift through dark and light.

Jammo’s been on an autumn deep-listen: Harvestman’s meditative drift, TVSF’s echoic heartbreak, Llyn y Cwn’s hypnotic dub, MARAUDEUR’s jagged post-punk, and Jon Da Silva’s filthy acid chaos.
