I still don't understand how anyone was ever supposed to figure out how to beat Tower of Druaga in the days before the Internet. Game's obtuse as hell.

Also, in games, evil is something you can feasibly triumph over.
I mean, for once I'm glad he's a coward. Because you -know- the thought of using nukes crossed his mind at some point.
A war crime by any other name
Well, it's TACO Tuesday, and I for one have never been more glad. If you've been paying attention to...well, anything lately, you know that the United States was just hours away from committing premeditated genocide, before our witless leader agreed to a two-week…
Everyone knows you shouldn't give sharp objects to children.
Why do I live up here?
It's a question I get asked on occasion. My area is pretty far removed from...a lot of things, really; it's at least a four-hour drive to get to any sort of truly large city. The local economy isn't exactly great, property values are absurdly high, when you look at how…
Just a light knuckle-dusting
Awhile back in my last post, I mentioned that I was heading off on a trip to Minneapolis. I did not, in fact, get arrested and shipped out to El Salvador or something--in fact, the trip went better than I would've ever expected. I saw one protest, and no actual ICE…
Sorry. You usually seem more up on the news than I am, so I guess I assumed you'd have already heard about it...
Into the hornet’s nest
Have you ever had a rude awakening when you've gone out to your shed, or garage, or heck, even just in your backyard, and you discover hornets building a nest, and suddenly your day's ruined? Like, maybe you wanted to just do some relaxing gardening, or fire up the grill;…
Woke up today to see the Greenland Acquisition and Statehood Act. #Greenland is a territory of #Denmark. Full stop. It's largely symbolic, but if you want to show some support to Denmark, here's a list of games made in the country that you might want to buy: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Categor...

You and me both, my friend. You and me both.
I've played enough JRPGs to be unsurprised by this sudden but inevitable twist, that the country with the biggest military in the world is actually the bad guy.
I think I would like to try out the Forest Hermit class in my next run.
You know, just in case anyone still held out hope that the military would refuse unlawful orders...
What the United States did in Venezuela is prohibited under international law, which bars the use of force as an instrument of national policy.
It's also always bugged me that they aren't even consistent. The first Return movie established eating brains is the only thing that staves off the pain of death, but in RotLD3, it's flipped: pain is the only thing that staves off the hunger.
Like, pick a lane.
Honestly, the Bush years were kind of like the Star Wars prequels. At the time, people thought they were an embarrassment, but about as bad as things could get...then 20 years later, something far, far worse dropped.
Shrug it off
Happy New Year, everyone! I know 2025 wasn't...great, for a lot of reasons. And I know that the whole concept of a new year being some momentous turning point is largely manufactured with nothing to really back it up, but the only way to really go is forward. So, if 2025 has left you…
That's it for now. Any other thoughts/ideas are welcome!
The website name, itself.
This is probably an anagram for something, but I haven't taken the time to unscramble it yet. But the website title on the tab it opens is just "Remo," which I see derives from the Latin, Remus, meaning "oarsman." More on this one later, maybe.
#Observer
More accurately, >OBSERVER_ was a retro-cyberpunk murder mystery that I'm only including because Bloober owns the rights. Highly unlikely, since nothing about this has a cyberpunk look to it.
#TheMedium
One of Bloober's most ambitious games, the "peek into the darkness" message might be a nod toward the split world gameplay mechanic they introduced in the first one. Not much about the aesthetic of the site really fits that game though, so who knows?
#WhiteDay
Also unlikely, but the countdown is set to end on Valentine's Day. White Day is a series of horror games tied to a holiday in parts of Asia, where men who get gifts from women on Valentine's are expected to get them something more expensive in return. The timing seems...interesting.
#LayersofFear
Including this one since it's Bloober's first notable series. But the games were all about artists going insane, and there's nothing about the look of the website that feels like part of the series. Possible, but unlikely, I think.
#SilentHill
I haven't played Bloober's SH2 remake, but I've heard it's great, so it would make sense for #Konami to give them the green light to remake another one--or a whole new game. Especially since their plan is to have yearly releases for the series, for better or worse.
#Cronos
Cronos: The New Dawn would've been a solid contender for my personal GotY in any year without Expedition 33. It left a lot of unanswered questions, so it would make sense for a sequel/DLC to be on the horizon. Plus, it heavily uses time travel, so the countdown fits thematically.
Happy New Year! Let's start off 2026 with a mystery, shall we? Theories in the comments. If you don't want to click the link, #BlooberTeam posted this on FB captioned "Dare to peek into the darkness..." It links to a website with a countdown. remosdneulserorehsoovamceyerd.com
Jackpot
Well, we're coming up on the end of 2025, and what an ending it's proving to be, on my end. My wife and I got back home yesterday, threading the needle between closures of the Mackinac Bridge: one due to an, er...incident that thankfully was resolved safely, and the other due to weather.…
Well, what did you expect?
It's a very busy time of year at my job, and the main thing getting me through it is the fact that we finally rid ourselves of the most toxic member of the staff. Over the past year and a half, this guy--let's call him Chungus, because seriously fuck this guy--has stuck…
