You can eat all organic food, drink green juice every day, do yoga, get vitamin D and touch grass… and still become disabled.

Wellness culture can’t save you from disability. What’s worse, most wellness “gurus” will blame you when you become ill.

Wellness culture is toxic & eugenics adjacent.

I (still) imagine a future where the water runs clear, children are safe, the oceans are full of life, we stabilize and draw down greenhouse gases, peace is common, conflict is generative, and the many and fluid ways of living/being human all have the space to flourish, on and on into the future

How denial of airborne COVID transmission broke the world - Healthy Debate Five years later, the greatest basic science failure in generations caused the pandemic harms highlighted by people across the political spectrum, and broke our social cohesion.

This is excellent.

Six years into this pandemic, you’d think people would want their beliefs to match reality.

I don't know about you, but I long for some cognitive...consonance.

I live in a 1980s house built by one of Edmonton's first green builders. We have an exposed beam on the main floor that was a tree they had to remove from the yard to build the house. I love this so much!

Just as Earth has limits which can be overdrawn, so do you. Food, water, rest, joy, community are the inflows that replenish the outflows of effort, worry, stress, action, bravery, courage, and creativity. How are your inflows today?

Masking Fear - Wearing a Mask -Alberta Views “I just want to thank you,” the woman says. “I want to thank you for wearing a mask.” Her voice echoes in my ears.

"I know people are tired of COVID, I know how badly we all want to forget how awful things were at their worst, how many millions died, how many more were left with long-term health consequences. Like a modern-day memento mori, my masked face reminds people of horrors they’d rather deny"

Most teenagers recover from long Covid after two years, study shows World’s largest ‘longitudinal cohort study’ reports that older teens and society’s most disadvantaged most likely to be affected

The most spectacular use of the word “most” to minimise a disease that persisted at two years in 30% of all kids that had symptoms at three months.

That is a massive number of kids *not recovered*.

It's all about framing. This Guardian piece's headline is perfectly correct. But here is an eq. correct alternative:

"Thirty percent of teenagers with Long Covid not recovered after two years, study shows"

Which one leads readers to view LC as less harmful?

Housing The Homeless Saves Money--Here's The Research That Proves It The best way to stop homelessness is mindbogglingly simple: Give them homes.

Main thing I have observed in myself and others, is experiencing drunkenness after a small amount of alcohol. unsteady walking after one beer for me. slurring words after one drink in others.

If we’re going to do a sixth year of “you do you” Covid denial - we need to start having tough conversations with people.

Do they realize they’ve likely harmed another individual? That someone may have died or been left disabled by their refusal to acknowledge severity of Covid?

I’ve been seeing some classic Monday morning quarterbacking as the necessity of #COVID19 lockdowns are being discussed once again. As usual, we’re seeing a lot of hyperbolic statements and attempts to create conversations around comparative suffering which is always just a 1/

Feels like a good time for a thread about all things exercise for people living with infection (and exposure)-associated complex chronic illnesses (IACCs) such as #MECFS, #LongCOVID and chronic #Lyme /tick- and vector-borne illness. Let’s start with a trip down memory lane.
