Australia’s depending on AUKUS Virginia-class subs. The US says they’re not its priority Vice Admiral Robert Gaucher, appointed to lift lagging submarine production, acknowledged the construction rate was “still not where it needs to be” to meet AUKUS commitments.

this story is paywalled, but the gist is the US authorities are talking up delivering the Virginia class submarines with no real mechanisms to do so - it's a bit pissy and windy, as you'd expect...

Greens say community has ‘no confidence’ proposed savings from NDIS will help disabled Australians

Jordon Steele-John, the Greens’ spokesperson for disability inclusion, said there is “no confidence” in the community regarding proposed savings from the NDIS, set to be revealed by health minister Mark Butler today.

Steele-John told RN Breakfast this morning:

People cannot understand, quite rightly, in my opinion, why a government facing a budget, which is ultimately always about choices, would choose to cut their services rather than make the gas exporters pay their fair share of tax, tax Gina Rinehart or Clive Palmer a bit more, or maybe … buy one fewer submarine from Donald Trump rather than take away their ability to connect with their community or get the absolute basics they need to live.

Steele-John went on to say disabeled people and their families are “sick of being used as political footballs”.

We’re in a situation right now where the state government is saying we cost too much. The federal government is saying we cost too much. And in the middle are disabled people and our families who will end up receiving Less services and support. We will end up without the supports that we need to live.

NDIS savings redirected to aged care
Tom McIlroy
Tom McIlroy
The health minister, Mark Butler, will detail savings from the NDIS on Wednesday, and reveal that some of the savings will go to help older Australians with the provision of essential services like showering, dressing support and continence management.

Labor is winding back elements of its aged care reforms, removing out-of-pocket costs for non clinical services in the Support at Home scheme.

The government has faced criticism from advocates for elderly people, experts and aged care providers, who said these personal care services are essential for people’s independence and ability to stay at home.

The minister for aged care, Sam Rae, said the changes will be effective from 1 October this year.

Showering, dressing, continence care – these aren’t optional extras. They’re the basics of ageing with dignity, and no older Australian should miss out because of cost.

Older Australians, their families and providers told us these services needed to be protected. We’ve listened, and we’re acting.

Impacts of plutonium pit production at Savannah River Site unveiled The National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) released its draft Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement (PEIS) for national production of up to 205 plutonium pits per year (ppy) on April 10. The two-volume document identifies the half-century potential environmental and health impacts within 50 miles of the nation's two facilities, the Savannah River Site (SRS) in Aiken, SC and Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) in Los Alamos, NM, that process the materials fueling the explosions from nuclear warheads. In the newly-released PEIS, the NNSA states its preferred approach is to produce up to 80 ppy at LANL and 125 ppy at SRS. The PEIS indicates that impacts would be minimal for wildlife, contamination, workers, radiation to surrounding communities and more. But critics are skeptical. "The draft PEIS clearly highlights an increased risk of radiation in the environment and across communities near facilities and workers," wrote nonprofit Union of Concerned Scientists in a press release. "The NNSA attempts to write these off as negligible increases and selects the most harmful and risky option of continued multi-site operations." The public comment period for the PEIS will be open until July 16. Then, the NNSA will prepare a final PEIS. The open house and formal...

They only want "profoundly disabled" on the NDIS. And they really want to be the ones who decide who that is.

All these little towns are of course one day’s horse-and-cart apart, so a farmer in the middle can do their day trip into town to get supplies. Now that all farmers have a helicopter and orbital-grade whinge generators, they can be demolished.

a. F-37 was a member of the online leadership chat group that planned the 2017 "Unite the Right" event in Charlottesville, Virginia and attended the event at the direction of the SPL.C. F-37 made racist postings under the supervision of the SPLC and helped coordinate transportation to the event for several attendees. Between 2015 and 2023, the SPIC secretly paid F-37 more than $270,000.00.
b. F-9 was affiliated with the neo-Nazi organization, the National Alliance and
served as an F for the SPLC for more than 20 years. F-9's activities included fundraising for the National Alliance. Between 2014 and 2023, the SPLC secretly paid F-9 more than S1,000,000.00. In 2014, F-9 entered the
headquarters of a violent extremist group and stole 25 boxes of their documents.
F-9 coordinated payment for the copying of the materials with a high-level
SPLC employee who had knowledge the documents had been stolen. The
original stolen materials were returned to the violent extremist group in a
second illegal entry by F-9. Thereafter, the high-level SPIC employee utilized the documents, in part, as the basis for a story published on the SPLC's Hatewatch website and authored by the employee. Another F. F-39, was blamed for the theft and was paid approximately $6,000.00 by the SPLC to falsely take responsibility for the theft.
c. F-unknown was the Imperial Wizard of the United Klans of America. In an
article published on November 22, 2013, the SPLC described the group as a
"millennial reboot of what was once a serious domestic threat. In its prime, the United Klans of America was responsible for, among other things, the 16° Street Baptist Church bombing in Birmingham, Ala, which resulted in the deaths of four little girls in 1963."

The Trump administration is big mad that people infiltrated literal Nazi groups and passed docs to the SPLC- and likely FBI agents that work in domestic terrorism. This is exactly the same method the FBI uses with their informants. This indictment is insane.
