Have a calm Saturday night.

Frohe Ostern euch!

Going back is essential, through Artemis & future missions around the globe. To keep the inspiration, curiosity, ambition alive. To take us into the future of exploration, and expand the horizon of thinking & dreaming - to where our children can think their future.
Ad Astra.

Going to the Moon has been humankind's greatest adventure. It changed our view of our world, of ourselves, and made us think and dream larger than we had ever dared.
2/x
Through all Human history, the Moon has kindled wonder, awe, dreams; driven curiosity, philosophy and science. The otherworldly images of the Apollo era unveiled a world of serene, mysterious beauty, landscapes built from cataclysms frozen for eons.
What must it be like to see the Moon up close, for the first time in over 50 years?
When Artemis II will send images of the Lunar surface back to Earth, we will see the first glimpse of our future. 🧵

🚨 UPDATE: fireball over Europe – 8 March 2026
At 18:55 CET on Sunday, 8 March, a very bright fireball streaked across the skies of Belgium, France, Germany, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands, glowing for around six seconds before fragmenting. 🧪🔭

I lived in Boston and Baltimore and had a girlfriend in New Haven. Loved to go to New York on the weekends.
Now life is between The Hague, Rotterdam and Paris.
And walking the streets and parks, watching people, looking over the Harbour, New York always feels present.
Slightly leaning cold, but that scenario would be really bad for the US East Coast, which was another long station in life that left feelings of attachment to nature and people.
Morning workout views, looking at the harbour post-ocean dip.

Grounding lines and ice loss around Antarctica, 1992-2025
🧊Antarctica’s grounding lines have remained stable along most of the coast for 30 years — but not everywhere.
A new study using data from Copernicus Sentinel-1 and other missions shows retreat of up to 40 km in vulnerable regions, signaling future ice loss risk.

Yes. Especially on early mornings.
Between Europe being the fastest-warming continent and the gulf stream collapsing, we're still guessing whether we'll be North Africa or Siberia.
That podcast was indeed a highlight.
Much brightened the morning beach workouts.
Priceless to have an everyday view that never gets old.
Especially if it's of the ocean.
I don't think I've seen this camera angle from an Ariane 6 launch yet. It's cool to see one side of the flame trench in action. Video credit: ESA / ArianeGroup / Arianespace / CNES
North Sea Moon, setting in cold dawn of winter fading into spring, after early morning karate and a bath in waves and reflecting light.
Taking this calmness into an intense week, challenges and decisions - yet agency gives confidence amid global uncertainty and local change.
Have a good week.🌅☕
The Hague is great for simulating the winter water back in the old Santa Cruz life.
The German-Dutch metamorphosis will only be complete though when wearing short pants year-round.
Other old man, post-sea.
Somehow it feels like he is not gone, there is so much of him that lives on in those in whose lives he was, and in the legacy he left in his scientific work.
My deepest condolences to his family and friends.
Thank you, Giovanni.

Giovanni led by example, working relentlessly and motivating his team by dedication to a common goal and treating every single one with respect and empathy.
I learned so much from him. And he supported me when I was not well. 4/
when working on something tough and having to navigate tensions, or just while thinking about good and valuable times with good people.
For me, Giovanni was the living proof that one can reach the greatest things through kindness and integrity. 3/
am profoundly grateful to have known him and worked under him as a supervisor and a mentor.
Since the common projects AEGIS and the Spitzer Extended Deep Survey, and the three years at the Center for Astrophysics as part of his working group, I often thought of him later in life 2/
I am very saddened by the passing of Dr Giovanni Fazio. Giovanni was one of the most profoundly significant and quietly greatest humans I was fortunate to meet, as a human, a scientist and a leader. 1/ www.eatonfuneralhomes.com/obituary/Gio...
Hello, world.
Screenshot of an X.com post by The Associated Press (@AP) stating that dozens of immigrant families protested for better treatment behind fences at a Texas detention facility, where a 5-year-old Ecuadorian boy and his father were sent after being detained in Minnesota. Below is a video thumbnail showing a crowd gathered outdoors along a fenced walkway; many people wear bright blue or red outerwear, and some hold signs.
After being held in two of them as a boy, I fought for decades urging America to never again build concentration camps and put human beings in them. It breaks my heart to watch this happen twice now in my own lifetime.
Black-and-white photo of the Auschwitz-Birkenau entrance gate in winter, with the words “Arbeit macht frei” above the open gates. In the bottom left, gold text reads “International Holocaust Remembrance Day 2026,” and the EU flag appears in the bottom right.
Today, we remember all the victims murdered during the Holocaust, and we stand with those who survived.
We also mark the 81st anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz-Birkenau.
This dark memory must be passed to future generations.
Never again.
