How did election night play out for everyone? It was a rough one on this end, but a few glimmers of hope. It did drive me to late night Taco Bell.
For anyone who needs a midday music break. What are you all listening to today?

2/2 Curious what folks here think. What do you know about the Consent Decree? What do you want to know? And what do you think should be different about how it’s working right now?
If you want to talk it through or learn more, my DMs are open.
🧵1/2 About 90 minutes into my first Consent Decree hearing and I’m struck (again) by how few people really know what the Consent Decree is, why Chicago is under one, or what it actually means for police accountability.
Real talk: this is where a lot of the actual work and tension around reform lives
Wow! What sounded like the entire AEW Dynamite audience in Las Vegas tonight chanted "Fuck ICE! Fuck ICE!" in unison before the main event
4/4 Shoutout to Bike Lane Uprising for helping connect transportation, street design, and public safety. I’m bringing this back to my fellow District Councilors and want more of these cross-lane conversations. If you’ve got thoughts about transit, safety, or access, my inbox is open.
3/4 We did a ride-along from the Western Orange Line to the Metra BNSF Western stop and back. Some of the best parts were just the conversations along the way. Good to see Ald. Anthony Quezada, Ald. Matt Martin, Rep. Theresa Mah, and hear from CTA Acting President Nora Leerhsen.
2/4 It was also my first visit to the Chicago Park District HQ, and I appreciated hearing from Supt. Carlos Ramirez-Rosa about how these systems intersect. If we’re serious about safety, we have to be serious about how people get to work, school, appointments, and home.
🧵1/4 Today I attended Transit Equity Day with @activetrans, thanks to an invite from Grow Greater Englewood. It’s held on Rosa Parks’ birthday, which feels like the right reminder that public transituuuuu has always been a civil rights issue. We talked Western Corridor and citywide transit equity.
Last call to apply for the Community Commission for Public Safety and Accountability. Deadline is Feb 6 at 11:59 PM. Applications must be complete, including reference letters, to be considered. These seats shape police oversight in Chicago. Apply here: ccpsa.chicago.gov/apply-to-ser...

Walz just lost me. :: sigh ::
4/4 I stopped voting by the numbers years ago. I dig in and vote my values, even if I’m the only one. While everyone screams about a house divided, they keep playing the same games and hoping to get different results next time around.
They won’t.
Shame on WBEZ for refusing to rise above the average.
3/4 I’m probably sensitive to this because I’ll never be anyone’s golden boy. But I’m good. I’m smart. I’m capable. I have strong ethics and a real sense of community. Media like WBEZ wouldn’t give me the time of day.
2/4 That race has 11 candidates. Yet the only ones treated as viable are the ones with money and institutional backing. We play along with that game while pretending to be shocked by how broken our political system is.
🧵1/4 I really hate that we can’t trust the media to give equal representation to candidates in political races. I saw a discussion today about the US Senate Democratic primary debate between Stratton, Kelly, and Krishnamoorthi, framed as a choice between the three “major” candidates.
Talk that talk.
What a cap to a long, intense weekend. Solidarity!

Kudos!!!
As I said on the original post:
The progressive District Councilors have been working for consequences for both. Who knows what is possible with more public support. Go to your local meetings. If they suck, come to mine. #District7

Yes, the micing of these meetings absolutely sucks. Thank you to everyone who recorded and streamed!
This was the best comment of the entire meeting for me.
