Talks & Telescopes: Lia Halloran - Mount Wilson Observatory September 13, 2025 @ 5:30 pm - 11:45 pm - A Bigger Infinity Lia Halloran, Professor of Art, Department of Art Chair, Chapman University Join artist Lia Halloran for a lecture exploring her two-decade studio practice at the intersection of art and astronomy. Halloran will share how her research into astrophysics, historical observatories like Mt. Wilson, and archival materials from institutions such as Harvard Observatory, Caltech and the Huntington Library has informed her painting, photography, and experimental darkroom works. Through projects that center perception, time, and scale, Halloran reimagines scientific histories to amplify the often-overlooked contributions of women, queer communities, and other marginalized voices in science. Her talk will include her recent collaboration with Nobel Laureate Kip Thorne on the book ‘The Warped Side of Our Universe’ and highlight works from major exhibitions and residencies, including the recent Getty PST: Art and Science Collide initiative.

ChapmanU Professor Lia Halloran (Art) gave a lecture titled "A Bigger Infinity" at the Mount Wilson Observatory as part of their 2025 season of lectures, exploring her two-decade studio practice at the intersection of art and astronomy.

Rise of anti-science rhetoric has fundamentally changed the relationship between doctors and patients “The rise of anti-science and anti-vaccine rhetoric has fundamentally changed the relationship between clinicians and patients.”

I wrote in @statnews.com about the emotional toll anti-vaccine rhetoric is taking on clinicians — and how it’s straining our relationships with patients.

This isn’t abstract; it’s happening every day in exam rooms across the country.

Yes, indeed. "Education at every level is also a crucial arena for cultural support. Cutting and closing programs in K–12 schools and higher education robs young people of the chance to exult in the right to culture."

This news puts all of us at risk, especially the immunocompromised. RFKjr misunderstands the science of mRNA. Research into mRNA vaccines includes application for C. diff, norovirus, cystic fibrosis, cancer, and more. Dumb and mean. #cancerresearch #healthcare #wellness

This is footage from today in MacArthur Park.

Minutes before, there were more than 20 kids playing — then, the MILITARY comes through.

The SECOND I heard about this, I went to the park to speak to the person in charge to tell them it needed to end NOW.

Absolutely outrageous.
