🦠🐛 Thrilled to share that our project MicropBoost has received new funding from the BMFTR!
We’ll advance microbial formulations to improve Bt efficacy, evaluating their field performance and commercialisation potential at @mitjare.bsky.social’s lab

Second-generation Plutella xylostella larvae reared in the lab.
This tiny moth is a global super-pest, infamous for damaging Brassicaceae crops.
We’re studying how gut microbes from adult moths influence their offspring and how this knowledge could improve current biological control methods.
How are researchers supposed to share their work these days?
X has a political agenda, ResearchGate teams up with predatory journals, LinkedIn is mostly business-oriented, and Bluesky isn’t growing as expected.
What platforms are you using to share your research? I’m genuinely curious.
Visited the Valley of the Butterflies in Rhodes, where thousands of Callimorpha quadripunctaria gather each summer. Despite the name, it’s actually a moth—commonly known as the Jersey tiger moth. Incredible to see them up close in their natural habitat.

Witnessing the rare and spectacular bloom of Amorphophallus titanum today at the Berlin Botanical Garden — a once-in-a-decade floral event. A true marvel of plant evolution, with the unforgettable scent of decay. #Botany #PlantBiology #CorpseFlower #Biology
What can we, as researchers outside the US, do to support our colleagues there? So upsetting. #harvard #academia #education #science p.dw.com/p/4umoL
Fascinating and deeply concerning: salmon exposed to anxiety meds in polluted rivers show bolder behaviour—crossing barriers more easily, but increasing their risk of predation. Human drugs are silently reshaping ecosystems.

Awesome review on origin and function of beneficial bacterial symbioses in insects www.nature.com/articles/s41...
No one should endure power abuse and bullying to build a career in academia. We need zero tolerance and real accountability. youtu.be/n5nEd600iM0?...
A much-needed review on an issue I've observed since my PhD days. Especially relevant for insects with low bacterial biomass, like Lepidoptera larvae! journals.asm.org/doi/10.1128/...
We had an inspiring and original 'Power Hour' session organized by Kevin Kohl and Jennifer Forbey, combining necklace-making and reflection on the importance of community, inclusion and diversity in science and society in general #GRC2025
🐛🌿Ready for the Gordon Research Conference on Plant-Herbivore Interactions! Looking forward to inspiring talks, exciting discussions, and connecting with fellow researchers. See you there! #GRC2025 #insects #herbivory #biocontrol
Me: I should focus on fewer projects
Also me: submits a new grant with @paniaguavoirol.bsky.social about caterpillars and plant microbes! 🌱 🦠 🐛
A very interesting study showing that alteration in microbes changed the contents of oviposition-deterrent pheromones on the Spodoptera litura egg surface #Lepidoptera #Entomology #Symbionts doi.org/10.1017/S000...
🚀Thrilled to announce that our research project on gut #symbionts in #Lepidoptera has been awarded the “Einstein Starting Researcher” grant 🏆, funding it for four years. Excited to continue exploring how Lepidoptera #biology is shaped by its gut #microbiota www.einsteinfoundation.de/presse/2024/...
🦋🌿 Our new study by Huve et al. reveals that butterfly eggs prime anti-herbivore defenses in annual, but not perennial, Arabidopsis. Curious about why? 🔍 Check it out: rdcu.be/dWes4 #Priming #Ecology #Lepidoptera #Entomology

Honored to have been invited by the Mexican Embassy in Berlin to present my research on improving bioinsecticide efficacy with the aim of reducing chemical pesticide use during Berlin Science Week. Thank you! #BerlinScienceWeek #Biocontrol #Entomology #ClimateChange
