Although John Morgan composed some of the works, many are related to 17th century poets such as Tomos Prys o Plas Iolyn, William Phylip o Ardudwy, Sion Dafydd, William Llyn, Sion Philip, Dafydd ap Gwilym, Hugh Morus, Edward Morus, Thomas Llwyd, Mathew Owen, Morris Richard, Huw Cadwaladr and John Vaughan etc. There are also various notes here such as a list of sponsors of the Caerwys Eisteddfod 1567, medical recipes, the epitaph of Archbishop John Williams, Sion Tudur's speech and essays.

John Morgan was born in 1662. He attended Jesus College, Oxford in 1693 and became curate of the parishes of Llanllechid and Abergwyngregyn, before becoming vicar of Conwy in 1697. He died in 1701.

Post image Y dyn yn dal y fwyall yn y ddelwedd yw Jack Ketch, y dienyddiwr enwog a gyflogir gan y Brenin Siarl II.

Deilliodd enwogrwydd Ketch o'i dueddiad i wneud smonach o’r weithred o ddienyddio, yn enwedig y modd barbaraidd o’i ddienyddiad o'r Arglwydd Russell, Dug Mynwy, a throseddwyr gwleidyddol eraill.

Dywedwyd bod Russell wedi talu Ketch am gael marwolaeth gyflym a di-boen ond ar y sgaffald dioddefodd yn erchyll o dan nifer o ergydion Ketch. Roedd yr olygfa mor arswydus nes bod hyd yn oed y llu a fyddai yn mynychu'r digwyddiadau erchyll hyn yn gyson wedi'u cythruddo gan yr arddangosfa gythryblus.

Daeth yr enw "Jack Ketch" ar y pryd yn gyfystyr â marwolaeth a Satan.

“A brief account of the several plots, conspiracies, and hellish attempts of the bloody-minded Papists, against the princes and kingdoms of England, Scotland, and Ireland, from the Reformation to this present year 1678: as also their cruel practices in France against the Protestants in the massacre of Paris, &c. With a more particular account of their plots ... and their contrivances of the death of King Charles the First.”

Tracts V. 9 Llyfrgell y Gadeirlan

Dyma ddarlun digon difrifol o ddienyddiad yr Arglwydd William Russell yn 1683 a oedd wedi'i ddyfarnu'n euog o uchel frad am yr honiad o gynllwynio gydag arweinwyr Chwigiaid i ddal a lladd y Brenin Siarl II.

Post image The executioner in the image is Jack Ketch the infamous executioner employed by King Charles II. Ketch's notoriety stemmed from his tendency for botched executions, notably the barbarity of his execution of Lord Russell, the Duke of Monmouth, and other political offenders.

Russell was said to have paid Ketch for a quick and painless death but on the scaffold suffered horrifically under several of Ketch’s misguided blows. The spectacle was so gory and horrific that even the bloodthirsty masses that habitually attended these beheadings were outraged by the agonizing display.

The name "Jack Ketch" in legend became synonymous with death and Satan.

Here we have a rather grim depiction of the execution of Lord William Russell in 1683 who had been convicted of high treason for allegedly conspiring with Whig leaders to capture and kill King Charles II.
