My dear friend and colleague Robert Charles Anderson passed away yesterday. Bob was the finest scholar in the field of #Genealogy I had ever known. A library of knowledge is now gone, yet preserved in his scholarship with @americanancestors.bsky.social He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

good point about community calendars. snd yes, a bigger event like a local history, heritage and famiky history fair. thanks for brainstorming.

my local society hosts a couple of open houses a year but we never put a concerted effort into getting media coverage. so the word doesn't get out well. usually attended by existing members only. how to make us interesting to journalists and easy to write about? make a media kit? what's that?

Had a great conversation today with a public historian about how #genealogy can be used to document local history... and the ways we can make genealogy resources more accessible. Options included helping libraries establish FamilySearch affiliate status.
