You completely missed the joke. The sketch was modeled after one of the final scenes in "One Battle After Another". One of the characters is gassed in an office supposedly provided to him by an organization he was trying to join. Notice they put Mr. Beast's name on the same "gas office" door after.

Absolutely the latter. Notice how they slide off Conan's name from the "gas office" and replaced it with Mr. Beast's. It's a joke modeled after one of the final scenes in "OBAA" that looks like it went way over people's heads.

You're like the first person here I've seen who actually got the joke. 😅
