I love glow in the dark stuff but GloFish express the FPs all over, not like naturally fluorescent fish patterns. It looks blatantly artificial like dyed supermarket orchids or those poor Easter chicks.

I think transgenic pets and houseplants that just look cool are gonna become more common/socially acceptable. Remember the 2000s when GloFish were the world's first transgenic pet and now the poor little buggers are in every pet store on the planet

Transgenic bioluminescent petunias in plastic flowerpots

I'm chuffed about these bioluminescent petunias from Light.bio. They're branded "Firefly Petunias" although I suspect it's not FFluc, but one of the bacterial lux operons that encodes all necessary luciferase & substrate-synthesizing enzymes.

@failbettergames.com Gua Makam Penyu (Cave of the Sea Turtle's Tomb) sounds like something from fantasy fiction. I'm thinking of the #FallenLondon #SunlessSeas desktop spinoff game where there's an entire island that's the shell of a dead titanic turtle.

I remember reading, when I was a kid (I was a weird kid), in "Where There Is No Doctor" that many people think injections are more potent than oral medicine, and that healthcare workers should learn to decline requests for unnecessary injections (paracetamol?!?)

These people do not care. 🤑💀👨🏽‍⚕️

Earthset as the Artemis mission travels around the moon.

Captured by the Artemis II crew during their lunar flyby on April 6, 2026, this image shows the Moon fully eclipsing the Sun. From the crew’s perspective, the Moon appears large enough to completely block the Sun, creating nearly 54 minutes of totality and extending the view far beyond what is possible from Earth. The corona forms a glowing halo around the dark lunar disk, revealing details of the Sun’s outer atmosphere typically hidden by its brightness. Also visible are stars, typically too faint to see when imaging the Moon, but with the Moon in darkness stars are readily imaged. This unique vantage point provides both a striking visual and a valuable opportunity for astronauts to document and describe the corona during humanity’s return to deep space. The faint glow of the nearside of the Moon is visible in this image, having been illuminated by light reflected off the Earth.

Expert urges mask‑wearing and self‑care during Aidilfitri to curb TB spread KANGAR, MARCH 21 — In the merriment of celebrating Hari Raya Aidilfitri, the community also needs to be aware of self-care aspects when visiting during the festive season and...

This is ludicrous and scaremongering. Malaysia has relatively low TB. You're far more likely to pick up Covid or any of the other 1001 common cold viruses than TB at a social gathering.

I am reviewing a simply amazing paper from a relatively young US-based lab, which is in danger of shutting its doors later this year. My emotions are all over the place.

The fact that this does not uniquely identify the lab I’m referring to just deepens the tragedy of this moment in US science.

The New Paradigm of Airborne Disease (SSIR) The COVID-19 pandemic shattered established views of airborne disease. Although it represents a paradigm shift in public health, the field has yet to catch up.

Please read this.

"Rarely do we live through an opportunity to build out an entirely new field so consequential for health and well-being. Let us be the generation that discovers how to make sure we all breathe safe air."

For a good cross reference, notice how raising tariffs on China didn't hurt China – it just reduced American influence and made the American people pay higher taxes for goods

What's tangentially interesting to me about this is that amongst men, it's _not_ the seed-sowing pronatalists who act like they actually like children.

Maybe it's got something to do with regarding women and children as fellow people, not incubators and clones.

It’s not about drugs. If it was, Trump wouldn’t have pardoned one of the largest narco traffickers in the world last month.

It’s about oil and regime change.

And they need a trial now to pretend that it isn’t. Especially to distract from his sinking under Epstein and skyrocketing healthcare costs.
