1/5. Orbán pioneered a model whereby oligarchs trade the fascist memes and electoral tricks they use to stay in power. He made Budapest a node between Moscow and Washington of the international far right.

Trump lost this war in every possible sense — morally, legally, politically, economically, reputationally, and strategically.

I'm old enough to remember the hundreds of times over the past seven years when people excoriated me for writing articles and giving interviews describing Trump as a malignant narcissist potentially on par with some of the worst figures in history, like Hitler and Stalin and Saddam and the like.
Out along the valley this morning. 3 Little Ringed Plovers on the muddy remains of the winter flooding, my first Willow Warbler of the spring at the sewage works, plus: Red Kite, 5 Snipe still, 5 Lapwing, Water Rail, 2 Green Woodpecker and a pair of Mandarin.

Ha! I daren't hope for that, Dave.
I've mislaid my thermometer, so don't know exactly, but it's certainly a little milder than it has been of late. Nice & cloudy too, so am hoping for an NFY tomorrow 🤞
2 here 😐
Good luck Clive! 🤞
Interesting! 👍🏻
Where are you, Dave?
In all the coverage of Trump’s tirades about Europeans it should be noted that they are dealing with a much longer, harder, bigger and more consequential war in their own backyard, in Ukraine – a war that they didn’t choose, and one that Trump’s war on Iran has made worse by enriching Russia.

Word of the day: pharate. This term describes a fully formed larva or adult when inside the cuticle of the previous developmental stage. Behold a pharate Purple Emperor caterpillar within its egg case and a pharate male Silver-studded Blue adult within its pupal case!
Charles Exum, the Border Patrol agent who shot Marimar Martinez five times, texted a group chat with fellow agents a few days after the shooting. “I fired 5 rounds and she had 7 holes. Put that in your book boys,” he wrote. newyorkermag.visitlink.me/2Gq1Fq

😁 Ha! Blossom Underwing, eh? Not a species I've had the pleasure of and nor am I likely to, looking at the distribution map. Nice one, sir.
😁 It entered at the neck and was eventually shaken out of the right sleeve. I am very ticklish you see, Simon.
Yes - a pretty suave character I thought.
