No, it's objectively good for democracy that both parties are doing it, for many reasons:

1) As you mentioned, it is the only path to get from "some gerrymandering" to "no gerrymandering."

This administration has absolutely destroyed the Justice Department. Prosecuting a storied civil rights organization for investigating white supremacist groups while vacating convictions for January 6th insurrectionists.
