My MIL is in Summerset Rototuna - they have normal rest home care (she is there, at hospital level), plus a dementia unit.

Just so you know
Us scientist aren't asking so much for ourselves as for Aotearoa

Every single study shows fundamental science funding is directly correlated to GDP growth

We want AoNZ to grow and the evidence says this is the way to make that happen

Note *fundamental* not commercial development

Raw Milk Isn’t a Health Hack: It’s a Skipped Safety Step Why the DIY “solution” to raw milk’s bacteria problem is exactly what dairies have been quietly doing since the 1860s.

Raw Milk Isn’t a Health Hack: It’s a Skipped Safety Step: you are buying milk that has not been cleared of its bacterial passengers.
Yes, you can hit it at home and clear it, but why not buy it pre-de-germified? by @epiren.bsky.social medium.com/p/raw-milk-i...

Euthanasia can be the only humane option for stranded whales and dolphins, so it’s important to do it well. A new article in the NZVJ examines CT images to see whether techniques and protocols could be improved.

When disaster or disease strikes animals, private vets are often involved. But planning for such events is costly and time-consuming. A new article in the NZVJ looks at where AI could help.

Eliminating CKD would be a massive cause for celebration. And there have been other recent amazing breakthroughs in Feline medicine (FIP used to be a death sentence in young cats and is now treatable). There’s no need to mislead people

CKD is indeed a major cause of death of elderly cats, and cats can very occasionally live to 30 years. But it would be massively overselling things to state that if you removed CKD as a cause of death, cats would then regularly reach a lifespan of 30 years

It’s a strange thing for countries to cut, NZ included -

Politicians should recognise that science is not something to 'conveniently' repackage to suit your government’s short-term goals, but a long-term driver of good for your country.

When you cut it, you cut *everyone’s* longer-term future

I try to pick up every last fruit to try to interrupt the guava moth life cycle ( which seems to be working) - but small/bruised/skins still end up in the compost.
I tried to use all the fruit from 3 trees productively this season - but I’ve still had to put several buckets out for the neighbours
