My cousin in Sydney has just stopped using her car.
She is trying to make a difference for others.
She's pretty clued up that things will get worse.
I wish our NZ government was a bit clued up.

I don't ever wanna hear any 'in hindsight' bs from this gov or media when the fuel runs out either..

'We couldn't have known this'

'South Korea didn't honor that'

'But Industry experts said... '

Instead of taking the action we need, to build resilience, save money and cut pollution, the Luxon government seems intent on doing just the opposite as if climate change isn’t real.

The Oil Crisis is About to Get Physical From market speculation to crude reality

This is rather terrifying.
I have absolutely no confidence in our current government's ability to deal with any of this.

Petrol price sign with diesel being the most expensive.

Petrol price sign with diesel being the most expensive.

The fact that this government is just letting this happen….

It’s a choice.

It really does make them look completely incompetent.

Fair point excise and RUC are roughly equivalent per km on avg. The real argument is, all vehicles should pay for roads based on distance and mass Independent of fuel source. Universal RUC is coming for everyone. The fuel saving still makes EVs the obvious choice. #NZPol #Election2026

A special shout out to our current NZ Government Coalition of Cork-Soakers.

In 2020, the annual NZ government contribution to KiwiSaver members was $521.43.

The Coalition reduced the government contribution to $260.72 early in their term.

Then they gave the savings to your landlord.

Aren't we meant to be all in a tiz about wasting taxpayer money? How many resources were spent on this nonsense?

#nzpol ⬇️ Yep, and lots of close to retirement workers are going to want to keep working because of inflation and because Trump has purposefully devalued and destablised their superannuation investments.

#nzpol Petrol reserves are dropping.

According to nzoilwatch, in 6 days the last on-water shipment of petrol will reach Aotearoa (assuming it's not redirected). That ship has ~5 days on board.

If three similar tankers started from Southeast Asia today, we'd break even a couple of weeks from now.

BVV “Retiring” should tell you all you need to know about capitalism, corruption and NZ politics.

BVV’s corporate/big $$$ sponsors got what they wanted & she proved she could manage the PR pressure of being pathologically cruel.

A great fit for most corrupt corporate roles.

Next puppet.

I have an unclassified qualification, own my home mortgage-free, and live in an urban area.

I voted for NZ First in 2023.

Opinion: What I learned from Julian Batchelor’s defamation case against TVNZ Anti co-governance campaigner Julian Batchelor lost his defamation case against TVNZ. Te Aniwa Hurihanganui, the reporter at the centre of the case, explains why that matters.

Good article.
This case doesn't just reinforce why journalism matters but why public service journalism is crucial at a time when shadowy, apparently-manipulative figures, like Jim Grenon, are taking increased control over mainstream media #nzpol www.1news.co.nz/2026/03/27/o...
