The February issue of #G3journal features research from @matthewberg22.bsky.social and colleagues showing how mistranslating tRNAs in #yeast can alter the abundance and phosphorylation of proteins involved in proteostasis, cell cycle, and translation. buff.ly/LKhFZFy
Check out our new work now published in G3! We use proteomics and phosphoproteomics to study how cells cope with tRNA variants that mis-insert amino acids.
One week left!
Nominations for CSMB Fellows and 2026 CSMB Awards close January 15.
Do you know someone whose research, leadership, or service deserves recognition?

🙏🏽 @matthewberg22.bsky.social & @csmb-scbm.bsky.social for capturing my thoughts on mentorship so thoughtfully. Grateful to have @biochemcellbio.bsky.social publish them and to be part of an important conversation on supporting the next generation of scientists.

Congratulations to our 2025 CSMB Fellows!
A great start to day 1 of the @csmb-scbm.bsky.social 2025 conference in Ottawa!
If you're around, make sure to come out to my talk on Wednesday morning in the "Protein Folding and Aggregation" session. I'll be talking about the cool stuff I've been doing in the @jvillen.bsky.social lab.
The inaugural CSMB Fellows were also recognized tonight. Congratulations to Dr. Imogen Coe, Dr. Jan Rainey and Dr. John Orlowski! @csmb-scbm.bsky.social

If you study phospho-signaling, make sure you check out this work!
I'm thankful to Alexis and Judit for letting me be a part of this project and I'm really excited for others to try this reagent and method. Congrats to all the authors!
Alexis does a lot of amazing work benchmarking the reagent/method. She demonstrates how powerful it is by applying it to EGF-stimulated cells, uncovering over 1600 unique pY sites including many low abundance and previously uncharacterized sites with as little as 1 mg of peptide input per sample!
We estimate our approach for enriching pY-containing peptides is ~ 10x cheaper than using pY antibody magnetic beads and our magnetic enrichment reagent can easily be prepared by any lab that can grow E. coli!
The latest work from the @jvillen.bsky.social lab @uwgenome.bsky.social is out now on bioRxiv!
Do you want to study phosphotyrosine signaling easily, cheaply and reproducibly? Then check out Alexis' work developing a method for systems-level pY signaling studies!
